^^ I did re-watch that a few weeks ago and the only thing I disliked was the abrupt ending.

This is an excellent read
An article by BirthMoviesDeath site, acknowledging how Bud and Lindsey Brigman's marriage coming full circle brings true depth to James Cameron's THE ABYSS ~ THE ABYSS: How I Learned To Keep Loving And Stop The Bomb __________________

This is a brilliant reinterpretation of the main girl group walking down the hall together in a scene from The Craft (1996) __________________

Thanks for that.
Even though this is the sci/fi thread and obviously The Abyss is a sci/fi, it's not just about Bud and Lindsay's crap ass back and forth marriage. So for more talk on them, we should move it to the couples thread here. One of my favourite sci/fi films is "Sphere", such a different take and a great cast with Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Latifah, Liev Schreiber, and Peter Coyote. |

Sphere is great. Blade Runner would be my favorite non franchise scifi film.

Anybody who has watched The Abyss should know that the central relationship between Bud and Lindsey is the entire point of the movie. This isn't irrelevant or sappy shipper-based nonsense. I'm not that childish The analysis of their marriage gets to the heart of the main themes of the movie - conflict and unity. The aliens actually change their mind about the state of humanity, based on their acknowledgement that Bud (Ed Harris) would do anything to save his wife. Human and alien species find common ground, thanks to their interactions. Also important to note that the Writer/Director James Cameron conceived The Abyss with his own marriage in mind. Their dialogue was heavily influenced by his own experiences with Gale Anne Hurd. Therefore, those familiar with this movie should know that anyone who talks about the Bud/Lindsey marriage is not being sentimental. It is all vital to the plot. Anyway, I just thought it was important to inform people of this and to state for the record that nothing went off the point. The posts didn't seem entirely necessary for the Couples' thread, because none of the details were superficial or gushy. Let's move on ----> __________________

Thanks for that Gwen. It is an important plot point for sure.
Did anyone see the newer movie from last year, "Valarian and the City of 1000 Planets"? I really liked that one. |

Gwen, I'll PM you. It was a complaint I made how I hate hearing about couples who aren't real. |

It was good sequel to Blade Runner, but they advertise Harrison in the film, but he doesn't appear for a long time!

They could have done it without him and it still would have done well. it's high on my watch list. Also been meaning to go through Dark City again. Anyone see that?
Also, I watched Total Recall today. Wow. I haven't really given it a watch since i was a young teenager many years ago. Super amazing. Way better than I recall |
