it's incredible to think that in February 1945, when the Allies rolled into Rotterdam, Holland, liberating it from the fleeing nazi barbaric murderers who were seige-starving the city to break the underground resistance movements, they found this sick, starving, and chronically malnourished teenage ballerina, nursed her back to health through the aid of the then-fledgling United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund UNICEF, and in just 8 years she would win the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1953, for Roman Holiday.

thank you UNICEF and the Allied Powers, for saving Audrey Hepburn's life and giving us all a great actress, role model, and humanitarian, as she later in life supported UNICEF food drives in many countries before her untimely passing in 1993. rest in peace, Audrey.

i have always had a thing for Audrey, not just because of her life story, talent, and beauty, it's also that oh so expressive face, such emotion and liveliness. it's a rare thing with actors and actresses, many great actors have talent, charisma, presence, but not so much that really expressive face. it is that rare person that comes along that has the whole package so to speak, and Audrey is such that blast from the past, a person and characters you can't forget.

i remain such a huge fan of hers.
