Period Dramas: All Corsets and British accents?
Hi! Anyone want to discuss period dramas? I love them dearly so I would like to know what people think. You could name some of your favorites, non favorites, or what aspect of the genre you like/dislike the most, etc. You could also just recommend a little known period drama you like.
I'm in love with Jane Eyre (2011) at the moment. I watched it a long time ago, but lately I've been getting more and more into it. I love how the movie looks, the way it feels, the fact that Thornfield becomes a character once Jane arrives and walks through its darkened halls. Perfect. I thibk The Red Room scene could have been creepier, but I won't complain too much about that. Anyone else? __________________

They are! A great mixture of escapism and bits of history.

Same. I've always loved them, ever since I was a kid.
Netflix has a lot of great made for TV period dramas that I need to watch! Also some Austen adaptations I've never seen. __________________

Does anyone have a list of their faves? Or a review on what they've watched?

Oh I have so many I have seen and want to see still.
I believe I have seen every version of Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility. I love Anne of Green Gables, North & South, Persuasion (2007), Austenland, Becoming Jane, etc. |

Awesome list! I'm working my way through every Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice movie/mini series I can find.
I just love Mansfield Park (1999). I love Fanny because she's not the conventional lead, but she's still pretty fierce in her own right. Her attachment to Edmund is the sweetest. __________________

Ooh I still gotta watch Fassy's Jane Eyre I'm currently obsessed with Austen's Emma.
Has anyone watched Tess Of the D'Urbevilles - Gemma Arterton as the lead? __________________
