An interesting fact: the scenes of them as younger Noah and Allie were shot after the 7 years later scenes It allowed the awkwardness of them meeting up after those years to translate in the symmetry of how Rachel and Ryan were also getting to know each other in real life, and according to Nick Cassavetes, it took a while because there was lots of bickering.

I actually knew that! It's a nice way to take on certain scenes for sure!

I think it helped the playful dynamic in the younger Noah/Allie scenes, as they were filmed later

I agree. I also really loved the clothes from their younger scenes!

^ I just read that! Thanks for bringing it over, Jen
Hmm, not sure I like the sound of it. Sounds very cliche (musical romance etc). The main reason I enjoyed the movie is Ryan as Noah, who (as director Nick Cassavetes said,) was such a "strange" choice for a romantic lead that it made the character work, because he wasn't acting the part like an average romantic lead usually would. Noah had layers, because of the dramatic gravitas brought by Ryan who before that movie hadn't had experience in playing romantic parts. __________________

^^ I have to agree with the 'cliche' aspect but I think I would try to give it a chance? Maybe?

Can you imagine the songs?
- "365 letters... Never did she reply... So I kept building this house, I won't accept a goodbye" Okay, hopefully more inventive than that, but something like that. __________________

^ Yeah, I'm ambivalent toward it. At this point, nearly ever movie is either being remade or being made into a musical.
At least it will be something fun and romantic for stage lovers! __________________

It also just seems like another way to bank on something that did so well. Like come up with something original rather than trying to bank on what's already been perfected.
I agree too Matt, I'm not excited by this by any means, but still curious. |

I'm curious to know who they will cast for Lon. He ended up being my favorite character in the movie - I don't know it it's the tender way that James played him or simply the heartfelt dialogue he shared with Allie in their final scene, but he was so lacking in arrogance and cliched rich guy traits that a huge part of me hoped Allie would choose him... Even though it would have been more 'sensible' than 'heartfelt'.

People want to see Lon as the bad guy, but he didn't do anything wrong, he just fell in love with Allie, but she couldn't lie to him, she loved Noah.

This was one of the most painful love triangles to watch in my opinion, because Lon wasn't a villain and he wasn't stuck-up. He was a lovely guy who adored Allie.
Noah simply came first. __________________
