I'm pretty sure I've seen clips of this movie though as the cast and some scenes look quite familiar. Not surprised as this is/was a popular movie!

The two best things about this movie:

1) Rupert Everett as George has perfect comedy timing

2) Michael chooses Kimmy

I must be clear about this -- I really couldn't bear Julianne.

Everything she did in this movie to try and break up Michael and Kimmy was just gross and immoral. That email she sent from the office pretending to be Kimmy's father... What on earth was THAT?!

Her character is loved by many viewers, and I don't get why.

Kimmy does nothing wrong at all, she's just a woman in love. I'm glad that Michael followed his heart and didn't go back to Julianne out of some need for familiarity. He had long moved on from her.

It's a really sweet, funny movie. I think the team who made MURIEL'S WEDDING (1994) were behind it.

But someone tell Julia Roberts that not everybody shipped Michael and Julianne together

I was personally thrilled that he didn't cop out by choosing her. I don't believe she even loved him that way; she was just crazily possessive when she found out he was marrying someone. The writers made the best decision by keeping him true to his love for Kimmy.

but honestly I didn't want Kimmy to be with Michael either. when he snapped at her just like that at the restaurant because Kimmy was telling him to maybe consider taking her dad's job offer

wth was that? she deserves better

Agreed, but I think in that moment his ego was bruised and he felt insulted by the idea that his career was below Kimmy's standard. You're right that he shouldn't have snapped at her (for which he does apologize)

, but in terms of the romance plot, if he HAD to be with one of the women, I'm glad it was Kimmy. The whole Michael/Julianne thing was clearly meant to be a friendship. Her obsessive behavior during the film was so creepy and the things she did to Kimmy and her father were disgusting

yeah, Julianne was like a maniac the whole time

I remember I was very little the first time I saw it and I was an avid Cam Diaz fan at the time, so I hated Julia for years for this role
