Pride & Prejudice (2005) #6: I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine.

I have just seen the trailer for the new adaptation of Jane Austen most popular book Pride & Prejudice. And since there isn't a thread for this coming film I thought I would start one. The trailer was amazing and it does look like they follow the book well. I am espically looking forward to watching Matthew MacFadyen take on the role of Mr. Darcy.

Joe Wright

Unfortunately for the Bennets, if Mr Bennet dies their house will be inherited by a distant cousin whom they have never met, so the family's future happiness and security is dependant on the daughters making good marriages. Life is uneventful until the arrival in the neighbourhood of the rich gentleman Mr Bingley, who rents a large house so he can spend the summer in the country. Mr Bingley brings with him his two sisters and the dashing (and richer) but proud Mr Darcy. Thanks for the link to the trailer. I loved the book and the Colin Firth movie version. The trailer certainly makes this one look good. I look forward to seeing it.

I just saw the trailer, too. It looks good... I just hope it can add up to the Colin Firth version (which I adore).

I agree with Carrie. The 'Colin Firth' adaption was so good, it'll take a lot to beat it..but I will go and see this as I'm usually a sucker for these films.
Though I don't agree about it seeming faithfull to the book, it looks quite different, but that could be good, seeing a fresh approach to such a well loved story

I'm really excited to see this movie. I don't mind if it's not completely true to the book because we already have the BBC version which follows the book very well. I don't mind different adaptations and it'll be nice to see how this movie is.

cherrios thanks for the link. The trailer looks good , tho' I love the BBC version with Colin Firth. I would like to see how Matthew MacFayden whom I only know from MI-5 acts in the movie. Does anybody know when the movie is releasing ?

23rd of September is the release date for the movie in USA. You can find the rest of the release dates here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414387/releaseinfo

I'm excited about this movie too! I loved the BBC mini-series, and this movie will have quite a challenge when it's obviously gonna be compared to the BBC version. Especially McFayden as Darcy.

The trailer looked good, and I think Keira Knightely will be good as Lizzy. Really looking forward to seeing this movie.

I think Keira Knightely is going to make a great izzy, and from the previews, I like the chemistry between them. Them in the rain when they do the infamous Mr. darcys confession of love in his horrendous way looks really good.
