I don't know what it was but I couldn't get over Barnum's negative changes!
EDIT: 28 Days Later Notes: I loved the realism of simple things. Like when Jim is crashing cause all he's eaten is sugar, Selena is quick to point that out. Simple but realistic. Also love the intro to Frank (Brendan Gleeson) and his daughter. Such a great cast! EDIT 2: Frank getting killed, infected. Almost at the end and love Jim saving Selena and Hannah. Again the music is haunting, but simple. I really love this take on the undead. When Jim gets shot, I so thought he was dead! Glad t see he'd recovered. Millie, if you're pleased that he recovered, then I suggest you don't watch the Alternate Ending to the movie. 28 Days Later Review + Did you learn anything from this movie? If you did, what was it? Heroes can be anyone (TDK trilogy reference) applies well to the four-square of Jim, Frank, Selena and Hannah. You can have a great zombie movie without actual zombies. + What is the message of this movie? Do you agree or disagree with it? Keep fighting for survival, even when it seems hopeless. + Was there something you didn't understand about the film? What was that? The stupidity of the gang who infiltrated the science lab in the first scene. + What did you like best about the movie? Why? Jim's determination to protect Selena and Hannah and the fun, carefree scene where they go to the supermarket together. Nice to see Frank looking happy + What did you like least about the film? Why? I understood why the soldiers acted the way they did (basically going crazy, believing there's no hope; just because their behavior is gross, doesn't mean it's not understandable on some level) BUT there's no excuses for the way they treated Jim, Selena and Hannah... Even one of their own men who defends our heroes. It's disgusting how they made fun of him, just because he was more realistic than they were + Who was your favorite character in the movie? Why? Jim. An all-round "Everyman" whose spirit never diminishes. The scene where he finds his parents is deeply sad, and the fact that he just sucks it up and carries on is indicative of his strength. + Who was your least favorite character in the film? Why? Corporal Mitchell was an absolute disgrace. He had no respect for authority, for women, for men, always putting himself first. + Did anything that happened in this movie remind you of something that has occurred in your own life or that you have seen occur to others? The only thing I can think of is the idea of travelling a far distance to somewhere then getting there and being disappointed by it. + What were you thinking as you finished watching the film? Life is precious; cherish it and those around you. You never know what might happen + What part of the story told by the movie was the most powerful? Why? The ultimate struggle to find answers. Jim has faith in Major Henry West, because of his speech on the radio... Which turns out to be deceptive. The soldiers are looking for answers too, but everyone in the cast has a different motive and therefore, their wires get crossed and lots of misunderstands escalate into violence. + If you had a chance to ask a character in this movie a question, what would it be? Selena -- what was going through your head in the moments before and after you killed Mark? + If you had a chance to ask the screenwriter a question, what would it be? Were you happy with the ending? There was an alternate ending; would you have preferred that one? + If you were writing the screenplay for this movie, would you have changed the ending? Explain your answer. No. I've seen both options for this movie; they chose the positive one, and I'm pleased. However, I've seen many fans preferring the second (bleak) ending. I don't understand that, but so be it + What feelings did you share with any of the characters in the movie? Frank's devastation when they reached Manchester. When he gets momentarily aggressive then apologizes to his daughter for raising his voice. It's heartbreaking. + Did any of the characters in this movie make you angry? Tell us why. Mitchell (for the reasons I stated), Major Henry when he refuses to let Jim and the girls leave, Selena for what she does to Mark (even though I understood it) -- it was hinted that Selena and Mark had stuck up a friendship during their time together, so I was shocked at her impulsive actions when THAT scene happens. + Did you come to respect any of the characters in this movie? Who was it and why did you come to respect that character? My opinion of Hannah changed throughout the movie. Found her an annoyance at the start, how she doubted Jim and Selena... Then she became like a surrogate daughter to them and she grew to trust them after they lost Frank, so my respect for her increased lots. The same applies to my opinion of Selena. I hated what she did to Mark and thought "THIS is our protagonist???" but I adored her in the second half of the movie. + What would you rate this movie out of 5 stars? Easily 5/5 stars. A cult classic horror. Excellent performances, a gripping story that doesn't need to use zombies in order to tell a zombie-like story, and focuses on the dangers of infection. __________________

It reminded me of the bleakness of that PS4 game, THE LAST OF US. Quote:

I missed seeing them too, it I liked the cast of Robert Carlyle, Jeremy Renner, Rose Byrne, Iris Elba, and Harrold, Parrineau.
Dynamic and great performances. Plus, thanks to Renners character, I feel like the army was vindicated from their asshollery behaviour in the first. |

It freaked me out when Robert Carlyle's wife was revealed to be okay ...And then she wasn't. And neither was he. __________________
