The Lovely Bones

The trailer for The Lovely Bones just got released a few days ago! I'm so excited for it! I read the book years ago, and I really liked it! The trailer looks amazing! I was literally stunned at how beautiful it looked. I got a bit teary watching it, too. Saoirse seems to be perfectly cast for the role of Susie, and the same goes for the rest of the cast. I can't wait!

Go HERE for the trailer.

Is anybody else excited?

Agreed! I don't think you need to read the book to enjoy it. It looks like it's a really well-made film. I'm glad Peter Jackson got to do it; he's a great director.

I read the book, which was amazing.

So, of course I'm going to compare the two.

But the movie looks really really good. Even though it's a little bit different.

You can tell by the previews that they changed it a bit, but they definitely spiced it up and the acting looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it.

It doesn't hurt to read the book.

I think it might give you a more detailed back ground of everyone.

It's a very emotional book and the movie looks so as well, as it should be.

It's a very extraordinary story through Susie's eyes. The book is so well written and such a sad story. I'm definitely glad they made it into a movie. When I was reading the book, I imagined it as a movie. It's such a heart felt story, and the sad thing is, things like that happen in real life, and it's such a different perspective when you see the story told from the eyes of the deceased victim.

I agree, I love that the book was told from Susie's perspective. I can't wait for this movie to come out! I started reading the book but never had the time to finish it. I should probably try to finish it now before the movie comes out.

The trailer gave me goosebumps!!! That was fantastic! I am almost half with the book and when I watched the trailer there were scenes that I'm still not there. So I was spoiled but it's ok (But then I don't know if it was really in the book or they changed it for the film.)

I love the part where Ruth saw Susie screaming. Wonderful shot in the trailer. I can't wait!

Thank you so much for starting this thread! I am totally excited for this film, I too read the book and instantly fell in love with it. I started a Livejournal community for it.
Anyway I think Saoirse Ronan is perfect for the role and surprisingly I never heard of her until this film and she just screams Susie Salmon to me.

I agree with Kai; you should definitely read the book! It's so good. I'm planning to re-read it myself since it's been years since I read it, and the details are bit fuzzy for me.

I hope you weren't too spoiled! Finish it; it's really good! I love that part in the trailer, too. I also love the different shots of Susie's personal Heaven. They're so beautiful! I also love the part where Susie and her father are reaching toward each other's fingers in the window. Got me kinda teary for some reason.

No problem! Saoirse's great! She was in Atonement before, and she was superb and nailed her role as Briony, too!
