Isn't this just a list thread? I thought we couldn't have those here.

You are correct.

obsession as an art form - it's great to have you posting; welcome to the boards!

While this is a fascinating topic (I mean that seriously) we do strongly discourage list threads - or any thread that doesn't support general discussion - because we have such an active board they're not necessary and tend to clutter the real dialogue threads. Our aim is to support a community, which means real interaction with each other, rather than individual list posts (which amount to star posting, really).

However, as I said - this is an interesting topic. So I propose we change the thread to a general discussion thread about film titles. That way we can post those that are odd, but also talk about why they're odd.

I'll change the title of the thread to reflect this.

In the meantime, thanks for the interesting thread topic (again, I mean that seriously), and welcome, again - I hope you enjoy posting here and look forward to getting to know you better!

58. They Came From Beyond Space (1967)

Awesome list, but I'm surprised they didn't include, Blood-sucking Pharoahs from Pittsburg among the lower titles.

I have to be honest - I don't generally care for long film titles unless they're really catchy, and they tend not to be. The only two I've tolerated - because they came from lines of literature - were The Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...but then that's also because they were good movies.

Don't Be A Menace to Society While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood

It was a movie with the Wayan's Brothers. All I remember is Marlon Wayans in baggy jeans and sucking a pacifier.

Most of the times, long titles are just funny.

That's funny.

I've always loved this title:
The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (1972)

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Johnson is a great title. It has so many connotations about history, about celebrity, about perception. It's just a title, but it's still entirely charged, just like the movie itself.
