It was a thrilling movie at lease but seeing him LW and Newsies and going to that emaciated look was scary!

I love the range and dedication he has as an actor But his weight loss for The Machinist crossed the line of dangerous and I just hope he never has the inclination to do that again. I remember being in awe of how he immediately built his body up again for Batman Begins
Little Women was the first role I saw him in after Empire of the Sun (I watched Newsies a few years afterwards) and it was weird watching him go from little boy Jim to romantic Laurie Seeing how tall he grew in those few years was a shock. __________________

I agree about the weight loss, even though he did work with a nutritionist etc, still unhealthy.
I do love his range and diversity and willingness to change for roles, but sometimes you have to draw a line. |

He was in great physical shape for both American Psycho and the Batman movies
Loved his innocent cheekiness in Little Women - __________________

I agree. The sisters relationship was so important and loved it!
This was so sad, Jo selling her hair. |

I love the book Little Women and I had a short obsession with Little Women and for Christmas my mom got me the book series and the movie and when I saw the Little Women movie I was amazed at how well the movie followed the book and Susan Sarandon played the perfect Marmee and Winona Ryder was so terrific in Little Women. I wonder if they will try to make a movie version of Little Men too because if Louisa May Alcott was still alive today she would've been impressed with this movie. I also got another book that talks about the history of how the Little Women series came to be and also features recipes too. I feel that Little Women could've won an Oscar at the 1994 Oscars because it's such a wonderful movie

Amapola I agree that Susan was wonderful as the girls' mother
Whilst the movie didn't win any Oscars, it was nominated for Best Actress (Winona), Best Costume Design (Colleen Atwood) and Best Score (Thomas Newman) Quote:
Awww, and that reminds me how much of a rock Beth always was to Jo and the others. Her premature death shed such a dark shadow on their lives Beth was the quiet hero of the story, in many ways. __________________

Amapola - Hi! Welcome to the board/thread!
I agree, really loved Susan's portrayal. Such a stoic character. I agree as well Gwen, Beth's death was heartbreaking but also in the saddest way, brought them even closer. |

Claire Danes' portrayal of Beth deserved more acclaim. I thought she was so powerful in her death scene with Winona sat by her side

The love between the sisters and their mother! + What did you like least about the film? Why? Why Laurie and Jo could not end up together! + Who was your favorite character in the movie? Why? Jo. Her resilience, naiveté, and growth throughout. + Who was your least favorite character in the film? Why? The pompous hoity toity society girls who are very snide in their comments about Meg's clothing. + What were you thinking as you finished watching the film? Why Jo and Laurie didn't end up together. Like really! + What part of the story told by the movie was the most powerful? Why? Beth's illness and slight recovery as she receives the piano for Christmas. Her reaction was so perfect and captivating. To see the joy on her face. Then some years later, her death was so relevant and her own acceptance and grace as it was happening. + If you had a chance to ask a character in this movie a question, what would it be? To Jo: Why not Laurie? To Laurie: Why not Jo? + If you had a chance to ask the screenwriter a question, what would it be? See above answer. [B]+ If you were writing the screenplay for this movie, would you have changed the ending? See previous two answers! + What feelings did you share with any of the characters in the movie? The sacrifices they made to help others. Giving away their meal at the beginning of the film to Jo selling her hair. + Did any of the characters in this movie make you angry? Tell us why. Friedrich Bhaer, wish he and Jo did not meet! + Did you come to respect any of the characters in this movie? Who was it and why did you come to respect that character? Mrs. March/Marmie, her stoic attitude and guidance to her daughters. + What would you rate this movie out of 5 stars? Last edited by Mi||iê Måë; 06-02-2018 at 05:37 PM |
