The 1996 version with Leo DiCaprio and Clare Danes. The imagery was modern but they used the classic English, so it worked more than I thought it would.

That was one modernization that I loved then and still love to this day!

He really suited the period style

I loved the romantic setting of his proposal. Also, note how Jo later returns to that spot by the log when she's grieving for Beth, meaning that she's thinking of Laurie at her lowest point.

Louisa probably strongly considered having them as endgame, but decided to subvert those romantic expectations for shock value.

I wish she hadn't done that
