Les Miserables (2012) #1

This is one of my favorite movies. Though it is not the most accurate Les Mis remake, it is still very well acted. What are everyone else's thoughts on this film?

Hmm...I don't think I've ever seen this version, actually.

The story is good, yes, but since I've seen so many versions through the years I suppose I just got a little over it. But I like the cast and according to its IMDb page it's one of the closest versions to the book (which I loved back when I was a teen, MANY years ago), I might see this...

Thanks for the thread!

Yes it is.

Similar to Pride & Prejudice I refuse to watch any Les Mis production before I read the book. I watched the 2005 version of P&P, tho. It was great.

But with Les Mis, I just want to read the book first (well, the translation of it). I must admit the number of pages scares me but I'll give it a try.

BTW, there's a Broadway revival of the Les Miserables. I think it starts a short run in the Fall.

Dont worry, I was a little hesitant to read it as well because of the page number, but once you actually start it goes by pretty fast

The funniest thing happened to me. I vowed, as shown above, to not see/ listen to any production of Les Mis, stage or film, before I read the book.

Well, I walk in to my Political Theory through film course, and guess whats the movie of the day???? Les Mis!!

I was SO laughing on my own. Ah, crap. What can you do?

The movie was fantastic and the conversation afterward was one I wish i could've taped.

Thank you for posting this thread Tammi! The opening looks beautiful!

So excited for this film! This film, Lincoln, and The Hobbit are the last films I'm most excited about!

Here's an Extended Look at the film.

I couldn't seem to find any of the posters in smaller form, but I did find these.
