Jurassic Park Series #2: "Welcome To Jurassic Park."

~ Welcome To Jurassic Park ~

Plot;
On a remote island, a wealthy entrepreneur secretly creates a theme park featuring living dinosaurs drawn from prehistoric DNA. Before opening the attraction to the public, he invites a top paleontologist, a paleobotanist, a mathematician/theorist, and his two eager grandchildren to experience the park -- and help calm anxious investors. However, their park visit is anything but tranquil as the park's security system breaks down, the prehistoric creatures break out, and the excitement builds to surprising results. Based on Michael Crichton's best-selling novel.

Quotes;
Dr. Alan Grant: It looks like we're out of a job.
Dr. Ian Malcolm: Don't you mean extinct?

John Hammond: All major theme parks have had delays. When they opened Disneyland in 1956, nothing worked!
Dr. Ian Malcolm: But, John. If the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists.

[about the velociraptors]
Dr. Alan Grant: What's their growth rate?
Muldoon: They're lethal at eight months, and I do mean lethal. I've hunted most things that can hunt you, but the way these things move...
Dr. Alan Grant: Fast for a biped?
Muldoon: Cheetah speed. Fifty, sixty miles an hour if they ever got out into the open, and they're astonishing jumpers...
John Hammond: Yes, yes, yes. That's why we're taking extraordinary precautions.
[to Ellie]
John Hammond: The viewing area is over there, and...
Dr. Alan Grant: Do they show intelligence?
Muldoon: They show extraordinary intelligence, even problem-solving. Especially the big one. We bred eight originally, but when she came in she took over the pride and killed all but two of the others. That one... when she looks at you, you can tell she's working things out.

Dr. Ian Malcolm: Anybody hear that? It's an... It's an impact tremor, that's what it is... I'm fairly alarmed here.

[while being chased by the T-Rex]
Dr. Ian Malcolm: Must go faster.

[being chased by the T-Rex]
Dr. Ian Malcolm: You think they'll have that on the tour?

Dr. Ian Malcolm: There. Look at this. See? See? I'm right again. Nobody could've predicted that Dr. Grant would suddenly, suddenly jump out of a moving vehicle.
Dr. Ellie Sattler: Alan? Alan!
[Jumps out of the vehicle]
Dr. Ian Malcolm: There's, another example. See, here I'm now sitting by myself, uh, er, talking to myself. That's, that's chaos.

Dr. Alan Grant: [seeing the Brachiosaur for the first time] Uh... it's... it's a dinosaur

Plot;
The film picks up four years after the disaster at Jurassic Park. On a nearby island, dinosaurs have secretly survived and been allowed to roam free but now there is a more ominous threat--a plan to capture and bring the dinosaurs to the mainland. John Hammond, who has lost control of his InGen company, sees a chance to redeem himself for his past mistakes and sends an expedition led by Ian Malcolm to reach the island before the mercenary team gets there. The two groups confront each other in the face of extreme danger and must team up for their own survival in a race against time.

Cast;
Jeff Goldblum - Dr. Ian Malcolm
Julianne Moore - Dr. Sarah Harding

Vanessa Lee Chester - Kelly Curtis Malcolm
Peter Stormare - Dieter Stark
Harvey Jason - Ajay Sidhu
Richard Schiff - Eddie Carr
Thomas F. Duffy - Dr. Robert Burke
Thomas Rosales Jr. - Carter (as Thomas Rosales)
Camilla Belle - Cathy Bowman

Quotes;

Dr. Ian Malcolm: Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming.

[after re-capturing the baby T-Rex in San Diego]
Sarah Harding: How do we find the adult?
Dr. Ian Malcolm: Just follow the screams.

Sarah Harding: I love you. I just don't... need you right now.
Dr. Ian Malcolm: I'll tell you what you NEED, a good anti-psychotic!
Sarah Harding: I'll be back in five or six days.
Dr. Ian Malcolm: No, you'll be back in five or six PIECES!

John Hammond: Don't worry, I'm not making the same mistakes again.
Dr. Ian Malcolm: No, you're making all new ones.

John Hammond: It is absolutely imperative that we work with the Costa Rican Department of Biological Preserves to establish a set of rules for the preservation and isolation of that island. These creatures require our absence to survive, not our help. And if we could only step aside and trust in nature, life will find a way.

Plot;
Eight years after the InGen incident, Dr. Alan Grant is happy with his life far from any dinosaurs other than fossilized. Unfortunately, he is extremely short in research money, and therefore accepts the offer of wealthy businessman Paul Kirby: A low flight over isolated Isla Sorna, where InGen's second research site was located, and Dr. Grant can fund his future research for a long time. What Dr. Grant didn't know is that Kirby just needs a dinosaur expert to help him and his wife find their 14-year-old son Eric, who crashed on the island while paragliding. What he did suspect, but never wanted to witness, is that the Velociraptors have evolved into a communicating species (and seemingly all along had the capability to do so), now being smarter than primates.

Quotes;

Reporter: Are you saying you wouldn't want to get on Isla Sorna and study them if you had the chance?
Dr. Grant: No force on earth or heaven could get me on that island.

Amanda: This is how you make dinosaurs?
Dr. Grant: No, this is how you play God.

Erik: I read both of your books. I liked the first one more. Before you were on the island. You liked dinosaurs back then.
Dr. Grant: Back then they hadn't tried to eat me yet.

[a loud roar rocks the jungle]
Paul Kirby: What was that?
Billy Brennan: That's a Tyrannosaurus.
Dr. Grant: I don't think so. It sounds bigger.

[the team come across a rotting carcass]
Dr. Grant: It's OK. It's dead.
[a T-Rex raises its head out of the carcass]
Dr. Grant: Nobody move a muscle.
[the T-Rex roars and the team run off]
Dr. Grant: ****!

Paul: What are you doing? Those things are after us because of those!
Dr. Grant: Those things know we have the eggs. If I drop them in the river, they'll still be after us.
Paul: What if they catch us with them?
Dr. Grant: What if they catch us without them?

Sorry had to bring this over to the new thread

Movie Spoilers, dont read if you haven't seen it!

I just got back from the movie, I thought it was great! If you haven't seen it then I suggest you dont read, however, there is really nothing THAT spoilery in here. Most of the stuff that happened was sort of predictable?

First of all, while I enjoyed the film, I thought the actions of the characters were pretty stupid. Agreeing to go back to the island and try to save some of the dinosaurs WHILE a volcano was about to errupt was pretty lame, but I could ignore it because I just love the series, so whatever.

Bummed that Claire and Owen were not together in the film, I assumed they would be after JW1 but I still enjoyed their flirtation and banter. They were cute. Not as great as in the first one, but we did get a kiss, which was adorable. I just hope that we get a tiny bit more in the last film. Not sure how/when they would be able to fit in it but Id like to see a bigger kiss scene if possible...

I liked the two side characters a lot, especially the tech guy, he was really hilarious in the first half. Mostly absent from the second half which was a bummer, because he was hilarious. But I am glad neither of them, plus the little girl, ended up dying. I wonder if any of them will be in the third film? I think the little girl might. I have a feeling Owen/Claire might be raising her perhaps? I wonder if JW3 will be set in the future.

Jeff Goldbulm was barely in the film, just at the beginning and the end, but I did like how his voiceover carried to the end and definitely implied a 3rd one was coming. I believe JW3 will be about the dinosaurs on the mainland, which... I'm not sure how I feel about that. I hope they are able to transport them to another island and then maybe they get stuck on the island somehow, because the movies work better imo when they are on the island, not in the city environment.

The movie was sad in a lot of parts, I hated watching the dinosaurs dying, especially the herbivores. I also don't think ti made sense at the end when she let ALL of them go, she should have just opened the cages for the nice dinosaurs. I did love the moments with Blue though. Blue/Owen were pretty adorable.

This movie largely took part in the california mansion setting, which is weird, but it did work. I just wish the beginning when they were on the island with the volcano had lasted a bit longer. The move started SO quickly. It was good, but I dont think it was AS compelling as the first JW. Now I want to go back and watch JW1.

Thanks for sharing.

That would be awesome to add some gifs.

Should we add the Jurassic World movies to the OP?
