Exactly. They take a no-holds-barred approach.

I mean, in White Ghost, they have an innocent man turn into a sexual predator and sadistic killer through possession. It's both shocking and really sad.

Does he ever become un-possessed again and remember what he did?

No.

If you've seen Amityville 2: The Possession, you'll know that happens - the son who was possessed, slept with his sister and killed his family gets the evil pulled out of him in the end and probably ends up in the psychiatric ward because he's so tormented (it's not acknowledged if he remembers any of it). In Ju-On: White Ghost, the man who is possessed follows the pattern of the curse and commits suicide after killing his family. It takes place in the scene shown in the screencap on the previous page, with the girl's head in the bag.

That's so sad.

Thanks for the recap and yes I have seen Amityville 2.

I love the Ju-on movies, it's one of my fav J-horror movie series of all-time, they're so good and creepy however the American remakes were rather mediocre in comparison, which is understandable, remakes tend to not live up to the originals

^^ I've not seen the originals, but the Americanized version take away a lot of the emotional side of things and go for shock factors rather than substance. At least that's been my opinion/take on most foreign to American transitions.

I honestly think the best American remakes of anything were The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and The Ring (2002)

It's hard to re-create that subtlety imposed in the originals. That said, I enjoyed the Sarah Michelle Gellar (first) movie a lot, particularly the scenes with the family and the sister being dragged into her bed by Kayako was shocking

But my favorite Ju-On is definitely White Ghost. A sequence of events which eerily blend together. The slow pace fits the tense atmosphere and the tape / possession storyline is SO creepy.

I did like the first Grudge a lot but feel like the sequels were lacking in story/substance and The Ring is fantastic!

The scariest Grudge scene (in my opinion) ~

My most weirded out moment in the Grudge is when that guy finds the boy in the house and as he's making a phone call he keeps hearing a cat meow, but then we see the kid look up and his mouth gets all distorted as he starts cat yowling! It's just something that doesn't look or sound right!

Oh yes, that scene with Bill Pullman Kayako's son was the most underrated ghost in these movies and probably the most effective, because he would show up at the most unexpected moments and clearly had morphed into his beloved cat.

These photos were like "Where's Wally?" with Kayako

That was a great detail that they added actually really upped the creepy factor!

I love those little 'blink and you'd miss it' details

Also, it makes Kayako much creepier as a human being, not just a ghost. She was obsessed with a man who didn't even know her on a personal level. She betrayed her marriage for a silly series of diary entries documenting her true feelings about her TEACHER
