Oh really? None of the ones of Sean Connery or Roger Moore?

Nope. I am most familiar with Pierce Brosnan.

I strongly suggest watching all of the films. If you are a fan of Brosnan as an actor, that's different. But you can't be a fan, and only have seen 4 of the 24 official films. I would also suggest watching two non-EON Productions films, NSNA and CR '57. The latter is an all out mess, but watch it once, so you can see for yourself.

NSNA is basically a remake of TB. There are a few small differences, but the overall plot is the same.

There is also an earlier adaption of CR from 1954. It was adapted as part of the Climax tv series in the US. Because of this, Bond is now an American working for the CIA called Jimmy Bond, while Felix is renamed Clarence Leiter and is British working for British intelligence. It's not that good, but it is still a stepping for Bond, from page to movie screen. Again, watch it it once for being the first screen adaption, and don't see it again.

I was really hoping for a clean break. He has said that he "wants to go out on a high", so it sounds like they will be going into this one knowing it will be his last.

Maybe not financially. SF had the advantage of being released in the 50th anniversary year. And not just that, there were the London Olympics and the Diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, which I think also played a part. There was a lot of British pride in 2012, which I think helped boost the box office of the film. Content wise, all they need to do, is just make a Bond film, not an melodrama, a Bond film. Something they haven't fully down yet with Craig.

Director List For ‘Bond 25’ Getting Shorter, New Favorite Revealed
Posted by Mary Anne Butler October 13, 2017

The upcoming 25th film in the James Bond franchise is getting closer to naming its director. The list has been relatively short this time, compared to years past. Not to mention, there is still an ongoing bidding war for which studio will take control of the brand, too.

Last month, it was announced that both Apple and Amazon had entered the multi-studio landgrab to be the new home of all things 007. They join the other big players like Warner Brothers, Sony, Universal, and Fox. Reports vary, but it still looks like Warner Brothers is the leading likely candidate to be still standing when the dust settles.

This also means that director choice is sort of a free for all, but with several prominent names being mentioned. The most mentioned favorite (until today) was Oscar nominated director Denis Villeneuve.

After his landmark film Arrival, his follow up of a little sci-fi sequel called Blade Runner 2049 performed poorly at the box office but still received tons of fan support. Villeneuve is also taking over the Dune reboot/remake, as well as a Cleopatra epic at some point. The question would be, will he have TIME for Bond?

HollywoodLife.com reports that Yann Demange and David Mackenzie‘s names have also been thrown into the mix. But the big news from their unnamed source says that the current favorite is actually Christopher Nolan.

Nolan’s got some great titles behind him, including the Batman franchise with Christian Bale, Inception, Dunkirk, and Interstellar. He would be an interesting choice, for sure.

It has been confirmed that Daniel Craig is returning for the yet-untitled Bond 25, for his 5th time as the licensed to kill MI6 agent. This will also reset a bit of Bond history, meaning that Craig will have held the role for 13 years, one year longer than current record holder Roger Moore.
