Saw Portrait of a Lady on Fire last night. It lives up to hype. Incredibly romantic, strong performances and some of the most beautiful cinematography I’ve ever seen.

I've just watched Burning (a Korean movie from 2018)

Um maybe the problem is that I missed the first half so I have no idea what the characters' motivations are or why this movie ended with a brutal stabbing, but oh my gosh this film was boring

The main guy just walks around and drives around the streets for ages. Nothing really happens. He looks depressed. He has some awkward sexual hook-ups with an on/off girlfriend then goes to meet this guy who he randomly kills.

I'm just... I'm wondering what was so good about this film that made it win the Palme D'Or? I don't understand. The half I saw was so dull.

Please watch it again, it’s an excellent movie. It stays with you and every viewer will have a different interpretation on what happened.

I Give My First Love To You (2009)

This movie (based on a manga) is heart-wrenching but I highly recommend it. The acting and chemistry of Mao Inoue, who you might recognize from the popular TV show Hana Yori Dango (aka Meteor Garden), and Masaki Okada is unbelievably good.

It's s sad story of how love triumphs everything - even death.

A brilliant Japanese animated movie from 2003 - Tokyo Godfathers

Almost feels like a Japanese version of THREE MEN AND A BABY or BABY'S DAY OUT

Three very different characters make the best buddies.

A very relatable story arc, strangers finding something in common during Christmas (their concern for an innocent's well-being). A joy to watch and very emotional.

WTF? A US remake of Train To Busan? No, no, no.

THE RING (2002 American remake of RINGU) was brilliant and it surpassed the original for me. But there's no damn way that TTB will work outside of its location and outside of the original cast.

yeah, I would say Oldboy is not the most appropriate date night movie. One of the greatest movies ever made, but taboo and anti-conventional romance in so many ways. -
