Great choices!
But my all time favourite independent movie of all time has to be "Dirty Dancing"...it was a small movie made on a small budget and they never expected it to be as big as it has been!  |

i've always wondered what people mean when they use the term "independent".....or perhaps an even better word that's subject to alot of interpretations is "alternative"....as in describing an alternative lifestyle....dress...music....etc.....perhaps one of my favorite quotations that references that term is the one spoken by sonny barger....a former president of the hell's angels motorcycle club...it goes like this....."the alternative of today will become the nomal of tomorrow"......
really....for what it's worth i'm in the middle of changing an arcade fire concert film into mp3s for an apple product......posting here is a positive way to spend some time while that process completes..... going back to the topic of this thread....an "independent" film...imo....is made with not alot of money.....not any known stars, if any....and in a very limited theatrical release because of promotional costs.....a few of my favorites from the last couple of years are.....'cold in july'....'blue ruin'.......and 'sound of my voice'...... |

It was a really great watch and by the end it's a come to your own conclusion sort of film IMO.
