TFTNT Please add me, Millie!

Was just thinking about my scariest ever moment watching a horror movie, and it was when I first saw THE RING (2002) and you're fooled into thinking everything's okay and Noah and Rachel are both alive (and back together as a couple) and she wakes up with Aidan the next morning, tells him "we set Samara free" and he sits up in bed....

"You helped her? Why did you do that? You weren't supposed to help her." That moment where you realize as a viewer that this isn't over, she's going to come back, Aidan has the handprint, Noah's not safe...

The Ring was one of the few horror style films to 'scare' me and it wasn't because of the imagery it was the psychological aspect of fear.

Added you Gwen!

Thanks

If we do a Horror Re-Watch, I think we should include The Ring

It doesn't matter how many times I watch it; the opening scene of Katie and Becca terrifies the hell out of me every single time.

It makes me think too of the Scary Movie franchise and their parody of the scene.

In tags because of size:

Spoiler:

I love Rob Zombie's films:

House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, The Lords of Salem, 31 and his Halloween remake.

What do you guys think of his brand of horror?

OMG those movies

I remember watching the first one, and how it made fun of The Matrix and Scream.

I saw his version of Halloween, and I was... Indifferent. I think giving Michael Myers an attempt at a sympathetic backstory didn't work very well.

The cinematography, however, was well done, and had a 70's vibe. Good job at directing, but story-wise, I didn't really take to it.

I loved the backstory to Michael, helping to understand him.

I'm a huge Zombie movie fan, his take on horror is a genre all it's own!

I think the issue I had with it was because it retconned the original. In John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN, we see young Michael grew up into privilege. When he runs out of the house after killing his sister, he doesn't appear to be in a troubled home at all. The only troubling thing we can see is what he did in that moment to her. Rob Zombie's version kind of neglects that, and just shows him growing up into an abusive environment. If it had been anybody else then fine, but it felt as if Zombie was trying to make him into another Leatherface, and force viewers to sympathize with his behavior on the basis of him having a bad home life.

The thing to remember too is that remakes, like Zombie's is based on the characters created in the original films, so even though he seemed 'privileged' in the original, it was an artistic change to give him the different upbringing.

At least that's my take on it.

I think that's why I don't have such a huge issue with remakes like some do. They expect it to stick to the original when the point of a remake is to take an idea and change it in the first place.

^ That's a very fair way of looking at it

Have you ever seen Candyman ? I think it's one of the most disturbing movies of all time Not in-your-face gore but when it happens, it's VERY extreme.

Loved candyman. Tony Todd has such a distinct timbre to his voice that is creepy and calm, at the same time.

It's really high up on my list of scariest movies ever watched. The fast and vicious way he preys on victims is just shocking And THAT scene, with the bees....
