We have our movie theme watch for December starting this weekend, keep up with the topped thread for Holiday/Comedy and it would be great if you could post a review!

I watched the HA sequel 'Lost in New York' two days ago!

That scene where Kevin is sightseeing on top of the World Trade Center is truly emotional to watch.

Every time we watch it, my family sits there judging Kevin's parents and wondering why they don't get arrested or at least questioned by social services for their neglect.

You wonder that in the first one too I think but I can see how that TT scene would be emotional!

Absolutely, but it's almost worse in the sequel because there's that ridiculous scene where Kevin's parents report him missing to the police and they're sitting there... Hysterically laughing whilst comparing Kevin being missing to losing their luggage.

You have to sit there during the movie, going "don't get too angry, it's just a movie..." but it's hard.

Yes, the towers are really centralized in this movie. The whole innocence and grandeur of the buildings is really brought to light. Post-9/11, it's difficult to watch. Honestly, I feel the same way when I see clips of them in the TV show 'Friends'. Just remembering how beautiful those buildings were and how many people worked in them or used them for sightseeing.

At least they're immortalized in films in the best ways possible.

Oh, for sure there's a great angle of them as Kevin walks up the steps and the camera pans upward between the two towers, and you just look at them in awe They were such a landmark in American history.

This scene of the sequel when the family decides to love Kevin because him risking his life resulting in them getting a free Plaza hotel stay full of free gifts:

^^ I know what you mean about the twin towers. I watched "Gangs of New York" the other day and at the end when they're showing the small graveyard beside the river with the image of New York behind it, it is a time progression of years passing and how the city builds up and you see the two towers...

many films have paid tribute to them. I remember them in a scene of 'Coyote Ugly'.

My family watched the 1st Home Alone together yesterday, and the part where Kate (Kevin's mother) marches him upstairs and tells him "why don't you ask Santa for a new family?" made everyone rage

I don't doubt that Kevin pushed his luck at first with his cheeky attitude. That said, Kate always ignores the constant bullying Kevin receives from Buzz and the lack of respect from his other family members, yet she always made Kevin feel that he was the worst one and the family would be better off without him

I think that was the point of that scene, to not feel bad for Kevin when he gets his wish!

I didn't care for the third one. So for me only 1 and 2 are worth watching.

Absolutely His family are such hypocrites who only realize how much they care about him when they think something terrible might have happened to him.

...Except for Uncle Frank, who compares leaving Kevin behind to leaving his glasses behind.

I remember seeing parts of the third movie, and not feeling the new cast You need that Joe Pesci/Daniel Stern dynamic as much as Macaulay.

Many of us do

Hope you get to see them some time! I enjoyed them for the cast chemistry and the bizarre stunts for the villains + Macaulay's character.

Well this weekends themed watch is Holiday/Comedy so it's a great time to watch Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York...which I will, plus Elf.
