Lovely story, good performances, and I've just posted a Review of it in the topped Watch/Review thread.
that sounds like a Hallmark movie. Is it?

Yes Thankfully, the subplot about soldiers stops it from being too sentimental

Definitely worth a watch, really shows the grieving process for families of War victims.

^^ It sounds relatable too for those who are away from their loved ones due to war.

I like watching unorthodox Christmas movies too. Like Krampus and Black Xmas (the remake).

Are there any films you love to watch at Christmas that are not the mainstream?

Good question, Millie! Hmm...

JACK FROST (1998) starring Michael Keaton is quite a low-key Xmas film that I used to watch many times as a kid.

I think the whole plot surrounding the death of a child's father (and a woman who's still grieving for her husband) is very powerful.

When you add to that the fact that he returns to them in magical Snowman form...

It is just a very beautiful tale of the importance of family in both life and death.

I never saw that one. I've always stuck to the non-magicalish if that makes sense. Like the drama of Love Actually or The Holiday and It's A Wonderful Life.

I would really recommend it!

The whole concept of a young boy losing his father in a car accident but his spirits are lifted as he returns to him as a snowman It gave me all the feels.

I don't know why but I have a fascination with watching Horror themed Christmas films...

I tend to start getting annoyed with all the mushy crap after awhile!

Nightmare before Christmas is my number 1 movie to watch around Halloween and Christmas. Horror movies with Christmas themes are great to watch.

^ Gosh I loved Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington was one of the greatest tragic figures to ever be in animated movie.

Definitely one of Tim Burton's best movies. I would say that, Sleepy Hollow and Edward Scissorhands were his greatest achievements.

Me too, Millie! Gremlins and its sequel were the number one most-watched movies in our house during my childhood, next to Home Alone and its sequel of course.

I honestly watch holiday movies all year round lol I can't seem to help myself. I am watching one called "Deck the Halls" right now. It's not very good at all though. Has anyone else seen it? It has Matthew Broderick & Danny Devitto.

Nothing to be ashamed of! Remember, there are people in the world who actually keep their houses decorated as Xmas grottos for 12 months of the year.

I haven't seen that movie, though I do like both of those actors.

My favorite Xmas movie is called Borrowed Hearts, a romantic drama that stars the guy from Will & Grace plus Hector Elizondo from Pretty Woman:

Oh I love Borrowed Hearts. It was very, very sweet and cute too. I watched it about 2 years ago for the first time and enjoyed it very much.

Right now I am watching a Hallmark xmas movie called "Christmas Encore". Anything with Brennan Elliot is a must-watch for me. I mean, he's just so hot and has a bad boy kind of thing going on lol

I always love those stories where the womanizing/moody boss does a complete turnaround when he meets a woman who makes him realize what an a s s he's been

That scene where he connects to her daughter over his memory of his father not recognizing his sports talent was really sweet, and later she buys him the glove

Always a good reason

I watched this today:

Mara Wilson is adorable as usual but wow, Dylan McDermott is spot-on when his character describes hers as "talks like a 64 yr old"

The ending is sappy and predictable but very sweet.

Dylan's character is my favorite.
