I really like that this movie is so much more than what is seen on the surface. I miss that in todays movies

and it shows what a terrific actor Jim Carey is once again

This movie showed Jim Carey as a real actor just like One Hour Photo and Insomnia showed Robin Williams as that same, well-rounded actor.

This scene flashed in my mind after answering the "best emotional scenes" thread.

I loved how the visuals were subtle showing how his memories were falling apart. One visual I liked was how when Joel sees Patrick kissing Clem in the store, he walks out and you see the store lights just go out with big booms behind him like the crushing of his heart.

And this dialogue enters my mind a lot out of the whole movie at the end about if things could be different and how people can interpret things said without the other realizing the impact:

Joel: [in the house on the beach] I really should go! I've gotta catch my ride.
Clementine: So go.
Joel: I did. I thought maybe you were a nut … but you were exciting.
Clementine: I wish you had stayed.
Joel: I wish I had stayed too. Now I wish I had stayed. I wish I had done a lot of things. I wish I had … I wish I had stayed. I do.
Clementine: Well, I came back downstairs and you were gone!
Joel: I walked out, I walked out the door!
Clementine: Why?
Joel: I don't know. I felt like I was a scared little kid, I was like … it was above my head, I don't know.
Clementine: You were scared?
Joel: Yeah. I thought you knew that about me. I ran back to the bonfire, trying to outrun my humiliation, I think.
Clementine: Was it something I said?
Joel: Yeah, you said "so go." With such disdain, you know?
Clementine: Oh, I'm sorry.
Joel: It's okay.

Actually, it's really weird to reconcile the fact that quiet Joel is the same guy who is "The Mask" or Lloyd in "Dumb and Dumber"

from cartoony to pretty realistic type shy person!

I didn’t watch this movie for the first time until midway through last year but it was definitely interesting
