Eragon

I read the book and I absolutely loved it. So imagine my utter joy when my mate Chris sends me this! I can't believe it. I'm actually well excited!

What does everyone else think of the film coming out?

Hmmm the trailer I've seen looks like a deliberate cross between Harry Potter/D & D and LOTRs, but then, the book wasn't exactly orginal either though as you've said it was a good read My younger sons want to see this so I'll guess I'll be seeing this at the cinema with them as a Christmas treat, otherwise I think I would have waited for the DVD as I generally do like the genre.

BTW Welcome to FF

I strongly suspect you're a promoter for the film disguised as a newbie, but just in case - welcome to the boards and thanks for the thread! (we're very friendly to newbies here)

I've never heard of the book or film, but the title alone sounds like a poorly-spelled LOTR ripoff. Here's the IMDb page info.

While the stills from the film look silly, it does have a fairly good cast so who knows? ...but then, Willow had a decent cast, too! Of course, it's a family-oriented film, so a little cheese is necessary for the kids, so I shouldn't judge it too harshly.

i picked up the book today in paperback. Figured i should read it before i see the movie. And i like it so far. I thought about buying the 2nd 1 too but the store had it in hardcover and usually Harry Potter is the only fiction series i trust in hardcover

dont know if I should read the book before I see the film...the movie looks ok, not my typical thing, but hey, it has Garrett Hedlund, so I will go for him

that's why I'm going.

I think you should see the movie first so if there turns out to be a lot of changes you won't be disappointed.

the ILM team worked so hard on making Saphira believable. the trailer was delayed a bunch of times just cause they wanted to include her in the trailer and she was never ready, so seeing that she looks real is a relief.

when I went to the theater I saw a hug cardboard cutout and I read the popcorn bags will contain images from the movie.
