| Dream Girls(2006)-Fame Comes And Goes, Stars Rise And Fall, But Dreams Live Forever Is anyone else excited for this movie?! Soundtrack Release date: December 5th,2006(First single "Listen" by Beyonce will have a video released on Nov. 13th) Movie Release:December 22nd Official Site All you have to do is dream Jamie Foxx:Curtis Taylor Jr. Beyoncé Knowles: Deena Jones Eddie Murphy:James 'Thunder' Early Jennifer Hudson:Effie White Keith Robinson:C.C. White Hinton Battle:Wayne Sharon Leal:Michelle Morris Anika Noni Rose:Lorrell Robinson Danny Glover:Marty Madison Effie White, Deena Jones, and Lorrell Robinson - three friends from Chicago - are a promising singing trio called The Dreamettes. Accompanied by their songwriter C.C. White (Effie's brother), they travel to New York to compete in a talent show at the Apollo Theatre. Although the girls lose this first bid for fame, their talent attracts an ambitious manager by the name of Curtis Taylor, Jr., who uses unscrupulous tactics to move the girls from backup singers of superstar James "Thunder" Early to superstars of their own. Curtis reshapes the group to "crossover" from R & B to the lucrative pop music scene. Lead singer Effie gets replaced by the more attractive Deena and is eventually dropped from the trio. The group evolves into a more sophisticated group, The Dreams, with a lighter sound and chic look. They successfully attract a "whiter" audience and The Dreams rise to international stardom. The money, fame, and adulation, however, doesn't bring them happiness. Deena decides to leave The Dreams and pursue a film career, and when the group finally learns of Curtis' drug problems and payola schemes, they decide to let it all go. At the final appearance of The Dreams, they reunite with Effie for one final number. The score includes And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going, I Am Changing, One Night Only, Fake Your Way to the Top, When I First Saw You, Dreamgirls, Steppin' to the Bad Side, and Cadillac Car. The Dreamers 1) WildAtHeart 2) DreamWalker __________________ No, we're too simple for that. We're too stupid to lie and manipulate. We're too stupid to be ruthless. | I'll be first in line for the soundtrack. I can't wait!! Well, I just saw the date listed as the 22nd in the newspaper this past weekend. Although they're having a limited engagement the 15th through the 21st at one movie theater here in L.A. I love Listen! | |||

| ok..that limited engagement thing must be where i got the 15. So it probably is the 22nd then. i hope when they start doing promotion, Beyonce performs Listen on some talk show or something. It would be amazing BTW: i plan on editing the first post with pics. I have to wait until friday though when i go home cuz the campus computers are so evil to me __________________ No, we're too simple for that. We're too stupid to lie and manipulate. | I saw the original Broadway production eons ago, when it originally played, and it was just okay. I was hoping to be bowled over but I wasn't...
Spoiler: So, I may not watch this one, especially given the casting. Too bad, really. Somehow it just seemed like a mediocre musical. ![]() __________________ | |||

| It was okay - a little flat. I never understood what all the hooplah was about at the time. I went to many, many Broadway productions growing up, and this was down at the bottom as far as content, staging, and music were concerned (but the casting was fine). But then, they had some phenomenal competition, so perhaps it was more an issue of context (it's hard to compete against, say, the original cast of Ain't Misbehavin', which was incredibly dynamic, or the original cast of Evita, etc.). __________________ | |||

| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- from MSNBC.com: Buzz: Since the studio showed 20 minutes of this film at Cannes, the buzz on this movie has been huge. There’s already tons of talk about a best-picture Oscar nomination and supporting nods for Murphy and former “American Idol” contestant Hudson. In fact, there’s word that the reason Streep’s role in “The Devil Wears Prada” is being pushed as a best-actress performance instead of best-supporting is because the studio doesn’t want her to have to compete against Hudson. Wow. Condon is the man who adapted the screenplay for “Chicago,” and he adapts this one as well. He’s best known for directing the very good “Gods and Monsters.” if what i bolded is true, then thats . Jennifer might actually have an established career after this movie and not fade awayBTW:This week's entertainment weekly has a big cover story on Dreamsgirls. PLus they did their predictions for Oscar noms and they have Dreamgirls picked to get like 4 major noms i think if i'm remembering right: Best picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, and Best SUpporting Actor for eddie murphy(i think it was supporting), and they had long shots to get a nom and Beyonce was a long shot for lead actress. So really small chance she could get a nom lol __________________ No, we're too simple for that. We're too stupid to lie and manipulate. We're too stupid to be ruthless. | Yep, I was so excited reading my holiday movie guide of Entertainment Weekly last night. There was a nice size feature on Dream Girls. And yep, Oscar possibilities were discussed in in the issue as well. Eddie Muprhy and Jennifer Hudson are getting major buzz. I'm so excited!!! I like Eddie Murphy but haven't thought about him too much one way or the other but I'm hearing he is just teriffic in this role. I'm really excited to hear him sing and see him in the role now. And I love Jennifer Hudson so I'm super excited for her. | |||

| I know no one else has posted again, but I just had to post again. I just watched Oprah from today and there were some tidbits on Dream Girls. First of all Oprah called Jennifer Hudson to tell her she had seen the movie and what a great performance she had given and how proud she was of her. Jennifer couldn't believe it was her. ![]() Then they showed some Jamie Foxx and Beyonce backstage stuff at Oprah's show. I also saw a glimpse of Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson. The big Dream Girls show airs Monday. I can't wait. ![]() | |||
