I don't think we can ever really know 'how Jane really was', but I did expect Jane to be a bit abrupt, she is a free thinker IMO, and I thought Anne portrayed that.

Not arguing with that. Anne played a free spirited woman but I guess because we knew the author through her work it just took us a while to get there. When she was the beloved Jane Austen her personality was completely ignored and her matureness of character wasn't shown.
