I still think Tom was brilliant as Lestat --

I loved that movie. Tom was good in that role, it's just a lot of the public things he's said/done in the name of his Scientology. For example, when he called Brooke Shields a 'drug pusher' because she admitted to and on Oprah that she had postpartum depression and needed meds, and he basically said no one needs them etc.

There have a been a few instances like that that have turned me off of his work. I still have seen his movies but I won't go out of my way to see them, or pay to see them in theatre, I'll wait for Netflix or rentals.

We so have to do an early years Brad Pitt watch with Legends of the Fall and Interview with the Vampire!

Totally understand I remember watching a 9 minute interview on YT where he was raving about Scientology and bursting into random laughter and it was so bizarre I've just had to try and separate his current reality from his proven talent

To me, Tom's career highlight was Lestat. He was so charismatic and scary in that film, plus genuinely funny in parts. A great partnership with Brad on-screen

I agree. His earlier roles were his best, then I just feel like he got more recognition for being in a relationship with Katie Holmes.

I've seen a lot of his films and I love the Mission Impossible films but not because of him, usually co-stars!

I think the film he was best in, other than Interview With The Vampire, was Vanilla Sky.

That's a brilliant film. I agree. The story arc the the reveal was so well done!

I love his friendship with Kurt Russell's character.


Plus, there's a great scene where he's told about the mask he'll have to wear to reconstruct his face, and he just loses it in front of the doctors -

I thought his individual character journey was way more interesting than his love triangle issues. The scenes where he's alone with his psychiatrist were interesting.

The reveal of the true nature of his situation was such a great twist. I really loved that!

I thought that was really well done and he couldn't bridge the gap between where the dream world ended and reality began.

Which makes me think of the concept for Inception actually. Wonder if there was any influence on the Inception film because of the idea of VS.

A lot of the visuals remind me of that, such as when Tom's character is standing on the rooftop, and he's trying to figure out whether to jump to come back to life

Also, the endings are similar: is he really awake at the end of VS?
