Dirty Dancing Series #1
I heard about this movie awhile ago, and I was instantly excited! It stars Romola Garai (Nicholas Nickleby, I Capture the Castle) as Katey Vendetto, an American who goes to Havana, Cuba. Her sister is played by Mika Boorem (Blue Crush). Katey learns lessons of rhythm and emotion from Xavier Perez (Y Tu Mama Tambien's Diego Luna), when they sign up to be in a dance contest.
The movie takes place amidst the backdrop of the Revolution in Cuba. Here's the trailer: Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights |
I can't wait to see this movie. Mika Bookem (sp) is in one of the lead roles. She was on Dawson's Creek in the last season of the show, and played Harley. Patrick Saywaze (sp) has a cameo in the movie too.

Yup, Mike Boorem is very pretty and a good actress. I liked her in Blue Crush - she played Kate Bosworth's sister in a good role.
I heard that Patrick was going to be back - yay! Thanks for confirming it. BTW, if you click on the trailers - the "small" and "large" ones are the teaser. The "medium" one is a longer, more detailed one. |
I wish and hope the soundtrack is good like the first one, thats more then likely wishing for to much. I mean with songs like " Hungry Eyes ", Time of My Life", and " Shes Like the Wind ", that might be to much to ask for. I haven't heard anything about the music in the new movie yet. I just hope for one " Wipeout " scene.

I'm not sure what to think of this movie. There is no way it will be as good as the first one. I'm happy that Patrick will make an appearance but I wish Jennifer Gray would come back as well.

Well, I actually wasn't a big fan of the first movie. I mean, I liked it, it was all right. It had nice music, and a good cast. But I wasn't in love with it.
I think Havana Nights looks much more hip and edgy - plus, I love Diego, Romola, Sela, Jonathan, and Mika. The music looks like it will be very Cuban-based, as the setting is in Cuba (imagine that, lol!), much more of a Pan-American feel. I really like that. The film comes out February 27. |
The soundtrack for the movie comes out Feb. 17, I'll try to post a track listing of songs later.

I'm a little weary of this film... the soundtrack listing has dissapointed me and bottom line is i just don't see it topping dirty dancing! Never the less i will see it and maybe i'll be proved wrong |
