Deep Blue Sea~ That's what an 8000 lb Mako thinks about

Does anyone else love this movie as much as I do? I just bought it after years of watching it when it comes on TV.

I like it better than Jaws because their actually underwater with the sharks trying to get in. It even has some funny parts when certain people die.

But I just love this movie. It makes me not want to be a marine biologist.

The offical website is very sucky. I don't like it at all.

You've never heard of this movie. Its so good.

It came out in 1999 here a synopsis of it:

A group of research scientists, working in an abandoned off-shore submarine facility, appear to have discovered a neuro-stimulant, extracted from the brains of sharks, that cures Alzheimer's disease. However, unknown to the rest of the researchers the project leaders Dr. Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows) and Jim Whitlock (Stellan Skarsgård) have illegally used proscribed gene manipulation techniques to enhance the brain size of the sharks to attain their spectacular results. During a severe storm, whilst the researchers are celebrating their success, the newly intelligent sharks attack their captors in a bid to escape. As a result of the storm and the sharks attack strategy, the research facility suffers a catastrophic structural integrity failure and begins to submerge. The situation becomes a deadly race against time as the survivors, led by shark wrangler Carter Blake (Thomas Jane) and Preacher (LL Cool J), try to reach the surface and safety as the deadly intelligent killer-sharks continue to flood the facility and hunt their prey. Everything is at stake for the winners of this deadly game of hunter and hunted!

Its so good. Those are some really smart sharks, I'm not going to the beach anytime soon.

Wow - I've really never heard of this film! Although the title is vaguely familiar...

Don't give up - maybe someone else here likes it, too.

I don't know - it sounds like a cross between The Deep and Jaws, and those are mainstay's in my favorites.

But I'll think about it...

Nayden-fan868 - You're not the only one who loves this movie! It's definitely my favorite shark movie. I don't own the DVD or video, but I always catch it when it's playing on TV.

Moonlight~Pixie - That was a good death scene. It's probably my favorite one, too.

I had only ever seen it on TV and when I finally saw it on DVD I was like wow. Some of the death scenes were really chopped up (notice the word chop)

That was my favorite death too. He really needed to go.

I really like Saffron Burrows I was hoping she would live.

I loved how LL Cool J's character at the end said "take me back to the ghetto"I'm sure it's a lot safer

I definately love this movie! And I agree, definately better than Jaws. Knowing who the actors are is a big part as to why I like it because you've got Samuel L. Jackson and then Jacqueline McKenzie (who plays Diana on "The 4400".)

My favorite scene would have to be this one:

Sam/Alexis (GH), Clark & The Kents (Smallville), Nathan/Jamie (OTH), Diana/Maia (4400), Bella/Charlie (Twilight)
