Dawn Of The Dead (1979)

For sure, Dawn Of The Dead, the original version, released in 1979, and not the remake (2004), is one of my favorites horror movies ever!! It's a cult horror movie, with lots of zombies, some gore and sometimes funny ...
I can't wait to get the dvd, which is out since Tuesday (09/07), on a four-disc set with lots of versions, extras, documentaries and etc..
Have you seen it??

The original Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie movie. Where do you live? I've had the dvd for almost 9 months! Poor you. I've watched it at least a million times. My favorite part is when flyboy gets eaten, because he got on my nerves
What's your favorite part?

He's talking about the special collectors edition that just came out. I'd have the movie on DVD for awhile too.

Special edition? Wow I can't believe I didn't know, that's depressing for me. Is there anything really cool on it? I don't want to spend money on buying the same dvd if the features aren't worth it.

Hey, my name is Shauna and I am 21. I was looking to see if this movie had a thread. Dawn of the Dead is my all time favorite horror movie and one of my favorite movies of all time. I am a HUGE fan of horror. I blame it on my dad, lol (who passed away) He got me into it, and had a huge horror collection, and Dawn of the Dead was his favorite Horror Movie, and I seen it when i was really young and it has stuck with me for all these years. I can't say enough how much I love this movie. The 4 main actors were SUPERB in this movie, especially Ken Foree, who potrayed Peter. The script is SO WELL WRITTEN; the go forth between comedy and horror is really clever and what makes the movie shine, because it's not just straight gore. There's actually a STORY. You get to know the characters personally, and become to care about their fates. The Music is EXCELLENT. And again, the rock/creepy music has just such a great effect in the movie. There's a bigger picture here in this movie too. It's not just about gore and zombies. I don't know, this movie just has a powerful message about survival and strength of the human spirit.

I can go on and on about how great this movie is, but I can't do it alone. Are there some other die-hard fans of this movie out there? If there are, I would like to find some, so we can talk about it.

You should really check out the original. You don't know what your missing, lol! I think It's the best. But that's up for you to decide.

The remake is a good movie, but I view the original and the remake as two seperate movies. The orginal will always be the real "Dawn of the Dead" to me. But I did really enjoy the remake, as I have it on dvd too. But It just could never compare to the original.

Through loving Shaun of the Dead, it's made me want to see 'the original' ie Dawn of the Dead, even though most Zombie films leave me cold, except for Shaun and the brilliant The Omega Man. I thought 28 days later was good..but not that good.

I love zombie movies. Dawn of the Dead is one of the best. I love both the original and the remake.

In the original Dawn of the Dead, there is the scene in the mall where one of the bikers gets his intestines ripped out. It is really gory and I actually had to look away. Pretty good for being made in the 70's. I actually saw the remake before watching the original. Well no, I saw the original like years before but didn't remember it. Any way, the baby zombie in the remake was really disturbing. That was in the directors cut version. I didn't watch the theatrical version of it, but I'm guessing that scene was cut out.

As for 28 Days Later, I own it on DVD. It isn't my favorite zombie movie, but it is pretty good. It does have it's boring parts though. I bought it because it was in Columbia House for $5.95. Couldn't pass that up. And I loved Shaun of the Dead. It had a few gory scenes, but mostly it was just funny.
