It's truly tragic about Heath. I too wasn't thrilled when he was chosen as The Joker... Hard to think that now, because man, what a performance. What a show he put on!

Just cameback from the movie and it was amazing.

ICA.. I too rolled my eyes.. I guess cause I picture him as the pretty boy in films, or the brooding type, not really the monster type, but man, seriously, Amazing dosen't even cut it. Little things really got me that the Joker did and as twisted as it seems, I found myself feeling almost sorry for him on certain parts, even though he was this evil, malicious, heartless, villain..

Spoiler:
Like on the part where he went to see the monsters during the Magic Trick scene and the guy kept calling him a freak, just the way he said, no I'm not and looked at him, it's like he truely convinced himself over the years, that he isn't and I almost wanted to feel bad. I mean heath played that part amazingly..

I know that seems nutty, but still

That's great about the DVD news. I can't wait to get it!! And congrats on breaking records! Wow.

I was wondering if it's worth seeing in IMAX too. I know I'll be seeing it again but was wondering if I should do IMAX the next time? Has anyone here seen the IMAX, and would you recommend it??

Thanks for the info about Christian. Media made a huge thing out of nothing really. He's human, like everyone else. Everyone looses their temper.

I'm gonna watch it on IMAX today I couldn't do it the first time because all tickets were sold out, but I really want to know if it's a different experience as some people have told me. I'll let you know after I watch it.

So, the DVD won't be released till December? Oh man. Well, I guess it gives them extra time to add more goodies to the DVD then.

I just saw this today at a preview, and I posted my thoughts in the "what was the last movie you saw?" thread, so I'll C&P what I said:

"Why is everyone ragging on Bale's Batman's voice?! I LOVE it! To me, it's an important part of what makes him Batman - I mean like, the whole deep-voiced, intense, badass thing he has going on is what I personally imagine Batman to be like. Seriously, I love it.

I saw The Dark Knight today, and I'm still freaking out at the sheer awesomeness. Absolutely amazing. Again, I loved the morbid, darker tone that we first saw in Batman Begins (though it was amplified for this film), and even though it's all based on a comic-book and essentially the hero is a man who dresses up as a bat to fight crime, I loved the realistic element of a city corrupt and in chaos, and the whole representation of order vs. anarchy. Heath, it goes without saying, was frucking PHENOMENAL as the Joker. He legitimately scared the crap out of me, and I can agree with Sir Michael Caine when he says that his performance surpasses Nicholson's in the original. He was psychotic, unnerving, morbidly amusing, and just plain awesome.

And of course, Christian Bale was amazing!!! Did I mention how much I love his representation of Batman? Easily my favourite by far (sorry, George Clooney). I loved how despite the fact Bruce Wayne tried to seperate himself from his alter-ego, he accepted at the end that he can't let that side go, because the city needs him. But he's not a hero in the typical sense. Gah, brilliant!!! I also loved the juxtaposition of his "dark knight" to Eckhart's "white knight". Eckhart who was also amazing. I was actually a bit worried that the whole thing with Two Face and having two villains would overshadow the Joker, but it didn't, so that was a relief.

And some of the dialogue in the movie was just brilliant. Gah, it was all great!!! I need to go see it again."

Yeah, I thought the first one was boring but this one totally made up for it. About Christian Bale's voice - I thought it was a little gruff too. But he still did a good job but Heath did it even better, in my opinion. The part when he was totally out of make-up just blew me away. I was like, "Is that Heath?!" I still can't believe this guy is gone.

Definitely see it on IMAX. (I haven't yet, but that's only because I don't have a theater near me. But I have seen stuff on IMAX before.) Chris Nolan even shot a couple of scenes specifically for IMAX (hence the $180 million budget ). I know the first scene at the bank was shot in IMAX. Perhaps the trucker scene was as well.

I actually don't mind his Batman voice much. I understand its purpose. I just don't particularly like how sometimes it seems like he's slurring his speech a bit, making his Batman talk even more difficult to understand.

And some more icons:

I thought Batman Begins was boring at first, but then I really love it after watching 30 times in the last 2 years. This was one movie I didn't know what to expect, so after I knew, I settled in and loved it.

The Dark Knight is darker, sinister and the philosphical aspects were broader and personafied incredibly. What a movie.
