it was brilliant! i think some people expected/wanted it to be more of an action/superhero film.. you know, with the big budget fight scenes and the massive cgi. this is not that film. not to say they had none of those (watch out for their first flight and the final act, pretty bloody impressive for an inexperienced director and a production with only a 15 million budget.. that's less than half of the first twilight film's, lol). but this was actually more of a character study than anything else (which is precisely why i love it). it was interesting how the more andrew was gaining control of his powers, the more he was losing control of his emotions. this was the origin story in the villain's point of view and the only closure you'll get is about him. so if you expect answers and seek closure re the origin of their superpowers, you'll be disappointed. because, again, this is andrew's story, not the superpowers'.. and tbh, i'd have chosen to watch a character study film re a disturbed teenager then a typical superhero film.. but these film successfully mixed both, which made it pretty ****ing awesome in my book. and yes, it's in the found footage genre which might seem gimicky but they managed to make something so fresh out of the overused genre, which makes it stand above the rest.

I find this film pretty awesome, fantastic, stunning and off the hook. I never saw anything like this before and I know this type of film won't be the last. Of course I saw horror movies with found footage style like REC, Quarantine and Paranormal Activity but nothing like this. This is by far the greatest sci-fi drama film for this early year.

I'm hoping for a writer/director commentary.
