LOVE Penelope.

13 Going on 30 is a favorite of mine. I don't own it but always have to stop and watch it when it's on TV.

I like French Kiss with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. It's funny and charming and they have great onscreen chemistry.

I have found though as I have gotten older. That I'm not that big into chick flicks as I once was when I was younger.

Personally I'm still into "chick flicks", but the recent ones aren't as cute or as funny IMO as You've Got Mail and the like.

Yeah the more recent ones are just missing the magic.

Exactly! There is very little 'movie romance' in them and they're not funny enough to compensate.

You have a Arthur and Gwen icon.

They are either sappy and unbelievable or they have no charm to them.

I do! I love their story. Kinda miss the show too. Hee.

No charm whatsoever. It's funny because you'd think these movies were no brainers, yet so few are done 'right'. Above all they require chemistry, a certain grace, and lots of charm.

Yeah it's a romantic movie, we all know that the two leads are going to end up together. Well most of the time. It's not that they get there, it's how they get there.

There either some forced triangle, that's very one sided. Or some scam to get the other person who forgives them at the last second and they end up together. Or no real connection between the two leads, just a lot of cliches.

What was the last chick flick that had that magic and was good?

I haven't seen many, but the last chick flick I loved was The Back-up Plan (Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin). Then again, plenty of people hated it, so I don't know.

The Decoy Bride (Kelly Macdonald and David Tennant) was pretty cute, just not particularly good. Hee.
