Capote (2005) #1 - Who DOESN'T love Philip Seymour Hoffman?

I can't wait to see this film. Really.

I vividly remember Truman Capote both in the Studio 54 days and from his memorable performance in one of my favorite movies from back in the day, Murder By Death (think Clue with a more clever script and classic Golden Era actors if you've never seen the film).

Plus, I'm a short story person so Capote's works were must-reads for me.

But most importantly - I want to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Because yes - it's Philip Seymour Hoffman!

I'll pay as much as $100 to watch him read from the phone book on an empty stage, no joke.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

well shrrshrr.....it's just you and i talking about one of the least recognized and appreciated actors working in film (in the u.s.) today......i've been a fan of philip's ever since i first saw him in a film called 'next stop wonderland'.....he played hope davis' neer-do-well boyfriend in that movie....

i saw the trailer for 'capote' in a theater yesterday....philip does look and sound an awful lot like the real truman capote.......can you imagine what it must have been like for truman capote traveling around kansas and the reaction he caused when he wrote "in cold blood" during the mid 1960's......he must have been considered a real freak.......in alot of ways things haven't changed that much in america where people are still judged, to a great extent, by how they look, dress and talk.......'capote' is one of the films that i'm looking forward to seeing this fall.....here's the poster and the trailer for 'capote'.....hopefully they'll spark some more interest and discussion in your thread...

you can watch the trailer here.......

I adore Philip Seymour Hoffman. He's mentioned in our "Underrated actors" thread. He makes movies, he elevates them with his performances.

I won't say that I can't wait to see this film but I'll be excited to see it when I can.

He's always good in whatever movie. And if the movie sucks, he's one of those actors that is the best part of the sucky movie. Like Johnny Depp.

I saw the preview for this and I'm really interested.

Dark Half Undine - I agree with you completely. Even if it's not a good move (*cough*Twister*cough*) he's still one of the best parts.

mukooh - thanks for the link! I missed the original interview. And while I'm glad it's playing in The O.C., as I was just down there and it was hot enough to actually be Hell, I'm not going down again just to see the film! Hee!

My mom really likes "The Thanksgiving Visitor" (and has tried to make it a Thanksgiving tradition that we read it but we all groan and usually don't have to read it LOL) but I watched the trailer and don't think she'd care for this plus she doesn't watch R-rated movies.

Well she wont watch R-rated movies for one thing. But I think she likes more of his "childhood memory" stuff. I don't really know if she is into the "In Cold Blood" period of his life, but I will mention it to her. Who knows maybe she will surprise me!

Ah, that makes sense.

mukooh - I loved the description at IMDb yesterday. Did you see it? They main-paged the film with photos, synopsis, moving images, etc.
