I love this movie. It's definitely probably one of the top movies I've seen in the last 10 years. I love that it's so freaking funny and then it just punches you in the face

I really love that movie. It's one of my favorites. I still remember when I saw it in the cinema. I always wanted to buy the DVD. Last year I was in Ireland and I saw the DVD, and being in Ireland and a movie with two of the best Irish actors in it, I had to buy it I was laughing and crying through the whole movie. Colin Farrell plays his role so believable. You just want him to hug and tell him that the world isn't that bad. And then we have Brendan Gleeson who is suffering too but in a totally different way. In the end I was sitting in my chair and I was really stunned. The black humour is the best

An interesting article: Looking back at In Bruges

Quote:
By a similar token, despite very good critical notices (it even garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay), In Bruges was largely unheralded by audiences upon its original release in August 2008. In the years since then, however, the reputation and legacy of In Bruges has grown to the point where it can scarcely be considered a cult film at all.

Thank you for the article. Well, I can imagine that it wasn't that popular when it came out. It's a serious topic mixed with a special kind of humour. I know for sure that people in my country don't really get this humour. And often those kind of movies are the ones that later becoming cult.

Exactly. It's hard to put it in a box. A lot of times people will skip movies that aren't clear cut comedy, horror, this or that.

Thank goodness this found new life on DVD!

Really? That's awesome.

I love that movie so much. Colin Farrell's best performance and movie.

Haven't rewatched this in a while, but I remember it being hilarious (with well-placed tinges of social commentary).

If I remember correctly, the movie did a good job with using politically incorrect humor to talk about prejudices and stereotyping (and how they tie to ethnicity and class) without coming off edgelord-y.
