Boys and Girls (2000) #1 - Warning: Sex changes everything
Synopsi:
Jennifer and Ryan are students at UC Berkeley, acquaintances off and on since early adolescence. She's quick, witty, ironic, literary, and independent; he's deliberate, literal, serious, studying structural engineering, always working on a plan. They take walks, they console each other over break-ups, he shares his plans. She's headed for Italy after graduation. Then, to their equal surprise, they spend a night together. Her response is to skitter away from continued intimacy and want to stay friends; he's hurt by her response, so he withdraws. Can it all get sorted out before she leaves town? Cast: Freddie Prinze Jr. .... Ryan Walker Claire Forlani .... Jennifer Burrows Jason Biggs .... Hunter/Steve Amanda Detmer .... Amy Alyson Hannigan .... Betty Monica Arnold .... Katie Heather Donahue .... Megan Quote: "Why limit yourself when there's a world of possibilities?"-Jennifer "Isn't it crazy what falling head over heals can do to a person?"-Jennifer "Does it gross you out to know that I'm bleeding right now?"= JKennifer "I can't study anymore. I'm getting too smart, people start shunning me."-jennifer "That's like on Monday saying 'You've got all week.'"-Amy I Love this move, though it's not known for great reviews. __________________

I think this movie is underrated.
Granted, it's not the best RomCom (romantic comedy) there is... But it's not as dreadful as many say and a lot of that is because of anti-Freddie Prinze Jr. sentiments as well. I'm no fan of Freddie... But I thought the film -- Which is a remake/teen-version of "When Harry Met Sally" -- Is fun in its own right if you don't take it as a serious "meaningful" film... Which I think is another reason people didn't like this film either (they had high expectations going in and it didn't live up to them so, therefore, it isn't a good movie in their minds). I definitely love the location -- The SF Bay Area -- As I used to live there (spent my college years there), and I think it has one of the better soundtracks for this kind of movie (youth targeted movie) in a long time. |
