Yep really Whitney was approached before she died like I think maybe a few weeks before and this time apparently there was going to be a story line where Rachel was going to save Frank's life although I don't know how that would have worked. Of course after her death it was scrapped because KC wanted no one, but Whitney you know he waited for 2 years for her[she was on tour at the time, so they knew each other way back in 1989] to the movie he wouldn't do the movie without her and he fought for her too.

I think a sequel would have worked, for their characters.

They could have had Frank deciding to track down Rachel, determined to not lose her this time

yeah I don't know without Whitney it wouldn't work, her & KC are Rachel & Frank I just can't see it working with anyone else, but them.

Kevin and Whitney adored each other, so I definitely don't believe he would ever envision a sequel without her

At least this way, we can imagine our own endings for Rachel and Frank, believing they reunited at some point in the future

Yeah they did. I believe they got back together in the end, as for KC & Whitney yes they sure did love & adore each other.

they had a great, very very close friendship off screen.

well actually that was from 2008 their little reunion, but they did keep in contact over the years after the movie unlike what others have said they didn't, but it's not true.

Every time they reunited, it looked as if they had never been apart! Amazing chemistry.
