I remember being irritated that Kevin and Vicky didn't end up together in AMERICAN REUNION:

It seemed as if the writers made the effort to make every other relationship work except theirs. I just didn't get it

They clearly still had feelings for each other.

Her character was all part of Jim's schoolboy fantasy. But then he matured and realized that Michelle was who he really wanted.

I re-watched the first 2 movies recently. I still think it's sad that Kevin and Vicky unlike the other couples did not end up together

Yeah, I really liked Kevin and Vickie. I hated that after the first movie, they never got back together. That was a mistake IMO. I don't get where Shannon's character would fit either. She was Jim's horny fantasy and nothing more, he got over it. She was also barely in American Reunion, she had one pointless scene so why bother?

It sucks

I guess they were attempting to be realistic by showing that not all high school romances last

It's a MOVIE! Allow audiences to enjoy it and not feel disappointed. American Reunion was only semi-good because Jim and Michelle were still together... And because Stifler was surprisingly sympathetic.

Exactly. It would be total fan-service to include her at this point and make zero sense. I loved how it was all resolved in the sequel with Jim saying

"I am a band geek, I just never joined the band"

and "you're everything that I USED to want"
