The Oscar nominations were pretty predictable this year, given all the other awards' shows, thus far.
I'm sure Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Melissa Leo have their Leading/Supporting Actor/Actress Oscar in the bag. Personally, I'm rooting for The Social Network to win everything it's up for - like I have been for every other awards' show. Just as long as it does take the four awards it's been taking: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, I'll be happy! |

Yeah, I was really surprised by all of the True Grit nominations...I haven't seen it yet so it could be a great movie...just hasn't had any buzz compared to other movies.
Now I guess I need to get on it...I've only seen 2 of the nominated best films...Inception and Black Swan and I loved them both. __________________

And I didn't really like Winter's Bone at all but it was definitely Oscar bait. I'm pissed about Andrew Garfield and Mila Kunis getting snubbed. Like beyond pissed. As much as I loved Hailee in "True Grit," she has no business being the the Supporting Actress category considering she was the LEAD OF THE ENTIRE MOVIE!!!!! The only reason why she was put in Supporting is because it was a guaranteed nomination for her. __________________

I really want to see Rabbit Hole but living in the boondocks there's zero chance of that until it comes out on DVD. I am glad to see Nicole got a nomination for it though.
I thought Mark Wahlberg should've gotten a nod for The Fighter as well. That was an amazing movie and all those actor nods for it are well deserved. Oh well, the nominations are what they are. I rarely see any of the movies that are up for Academy Awards because Hollywood's idea of a good movie and mine are vastly different. LOL. But this year I've actually seen 3 of them surprisingly. I've not seen The Social Network, but I have no desire to see it. the Fighter, Black Swan and Inception were are good though. My fav of those three was The Fighter. __________________

I don't think they were that predictable....a lot of stuff was nominated I didn't think would based on all the other shows...Javiar being nominated, True Grit getting so much love, etc.
I'm really hoping to catch The Kings Speech, Rabbit Hole, the Social Network and 127 Hours before the awards air though.... __________________

I was surprised to see: Angrew Garfield, Mila Kunis, and Mark Wahlberg didn't get nominations. Sad for Mark since the other three main ones from The Fighter did. And Andrew and Mila have at least been getting other nominations, so I'm surprised they didn't land Oscar ones too. Andrew was definitely deserving of one.

my family and i haven't watched the academy awards for a couple of years now....this will be the 3rd year in a row we won't watch.....without going into the reasons why the only comment that i'm going to make in this post is in regards to the documentary category......i still continue to watch alot of them and i've been lucky enough to have seen all of the nominated documentaries in a theater this year.....i've used bold type to pick my favorite and predicted winner in that category....with a brief thought as to why....
Documentary Feature Exit through the Gift Shop Gasland Inside Job Restrepo Waste Land 'restrepo' while my family and i do not support the wars our country is waging in the middle east.....we do support and pray for the young men....and women that are fighting, dying and being horribly wounded in these wars....this film illustrates the folly of these wars....and at the same time it's dedicated to the sacrifices these young women and men have made..... |

I wish Aronofsky would win the best director, but I don't think he has a chance. Also the soundtrack of The King's Speech is so beautiful. |

This weekend a lot of the movies nominated are finally being released in my city!
I think I'm going to go see Blue Valentine, Rabbit Hole, 127 Hours and the King's Speech this weekend. __________________

I've seen almost all of the films and I really want King's Speech to win. It was such a great film. I was glad to see the nominations for True Grit, I thought it was a really good movie. The girl is amazing in the movie!
I just saw "The Kids Are Alright" and I didn't think it was that great. Hoping to see 127 Hours tomorrow. __________________
