This is interesting - an insider has seen some footage of various upcoming movies including the new Aladdin, and is claiming that people have overreacted in their negativity towards Will Smith as the Genie

I just can't imagine Will Smith as Genie, especially because Robin Williams iconized that role in the animated version so it's big shoes to fill.

I will give the film a chance of course, don't want to pre-judge without seeing but it's just weird in a way too.
