I know no one said it but isn't his sl something like that, where he misses her too much and living in this world without her is too difficult and without her support and reaffirmations of his worth, he finallly kind of broke down and gave up, deciding to sleep till it is time for her to wake...

 Yes that was his story. He was trying to make it w/out her. Then he hit a rough patch and needed to see her. He thought he killed her & spiraled even further. When he realized she was alive he was glad he had a 2nd chance and decided to dessicate. He still credits her for giving him the ability to care for others.__________________

OMG yes she does! I have never missed her more than this season when there is literally no one asking Damon how he's feeling or if he's doing ok etc. Instead they're all making him feel even worse. My gosh Elena (even before she really even knew him) told him she was sorry for him in S1 b/c she knew he was sad about Katherine too but these people who are his friends can't stop to check on him

Plus I read Damon mentioned her in the new episode. They brought back Elena's front porch and he remembered all the memories they had on it __________________
