Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone on ABC's hit "Lost," has joined the cast of the CW's drama pilot "Vampire Diaries."
Somerhalder is set to play Damon, a smug vampire who can go from playful to evil in a split second.

Thesp's credits also include "Tell Me You Love Me."

Also joining the cast are Zach Roerig ("Friday Night ..Lights.."), who will play the jock Matt, and Kayla Ewell ("Entourage"), who will play Matt's sister.

Previously announced cast includes Nina Dobrev and Steven R. McQueen.

"Vampire Diaries," based on a series of books from Alloy Entertainment, centers on a woman who falls for two vampire brothers - one good and one evil.

Warner Bros. TV is behind the project, along with Alloy and Outerbanks Ent.

I love Damon and Alaric interaction and I would totally watch a spinoff with the two of them

Aaaw, I wouldn't much like a spinoff with the two of them cause there wouldn't be Elena, but I would totally watch a Damon/Alaric epi, could be great

And either Damon admit it or not, Alaric IS his friend

Eliza, it was referring to Stefan's love for him. I should have brought that paragraph over as well, was so tired last night and not thinking straight.

Ah, what we do for love. People say they would walk on hot coals for love. But when put to the test, would they really? The price of love might be too high. Love is a greedy emotion. Most pursue it for all the wrong, selfish reasons. Thus, can we truly say we love selflessly? Love can be the most selfish emotion there is. We will do anything for love. A parent will die for a child. A lover will kill to protect their lover. And in Stefan’s case, a sibling will drag another sibling into hell just because they love them. Stefan may have thought he was giving Damon a gift, but that gift came with an unbearable price tag -- for is an eternity of guilt worth living for? Does any amount of love make up for that albatross of emotion weighing down upon one every second of their lives? It is no wonder that Damon is constantly trying to inebriate himself with alcohol. His brother's love has crushed the life out of him.

I sometime happen to think that Stefan's real problem is to get Damon's love back more than his need of Elena's (or a woman in general love)... Don't know how to explain it, but I think Damon might solve most part of the problems Stefan is having with himself
