I think once you've gone past 12 or 13, a birthday is pretty much just a birthday. Well, maybe the 18s and the 21s feel more important because of the legal status and stuff, but it's just a day, you know? Not like when you were a kid and it was the most special day ever. God, you get such crazy ups and downs in emotion when you're a kid. I remember when I looked forward so much to some really stupid stuff, and got sooo happy or sooo sad because of tiny, tiny things. I miss that, sometimes; but at the same time just thinking about that level of emotional intensity tires me out.
