Thanks for finding the dates.

I saw the promo for the season premiere of L&O.

It looks wierd as hell without Briscoe, though.

Cool! I haven't seen the new promo yet. Haven't really been watching NBC much this summer though. Yeah I bet it was really weird w/out Orbach in it cracking a one liner.

From tvguide.com:
Quote:
DOINK DOINK: Here's some "TV News" scoop from the new issue of TV Guide magazine: Mary Stuart Masterson will replace B.D. Wong as Law & Order SVU's in-house shrink for three episodes this November. A show rep says Wong is cutting out to do a play. Must be nice.
Anyone know what play Wong is going to do? Not that I'll be in New York to see it...

I saw the promo last night finally as well after the rerun. I am really looking forward to the new season but was truly heartbroken when Orbach announced he was leaving.

Hey Mandy! L&O definitely won't be the same without Orbach.

According to playbill.com:
Tony Award winner B.D. Wong (M. Butterfly) will star in the upcoming Roundabout Theatre Company-Gorgeous Entertainment Inc. presentation of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Pacific Overtures at Broadway's Studio 54.

The rest of the article is here. There's a little more on Wong and his previous Broadway appearances, and more about Pacific Overtures.

I guess this is the right thread for this, and I'm sorry if this has already been discussed at all... I'm a little behind.

I noticed when I was checking my netflix today that the next set of Law & Order DVDs are coming out this month. What baffles me is that instead of releasing them consecutively by season they have choosen to release the most recent season of each series this time... so season 14 for the original, season 5 of svu, and season 3 of ci. Which upsets me because we've all seen those episodes very recently... I wanna relive early episodes of the shows not rewatch episodes I just saw a couple months ago.

Yeah, I agree that it's surprising for them to release the DVD's in that order.

Yeah I know, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I guess the network's reasoning might be that people might want to get copies of what they've just seen instead of "older stuff" What they don't realize is that most people want the "older stuff" and they want things in order. By the way, I don't think we have a DVD thread. I'll go ahead and start one.

A letter appeared today in my newspaper's weekly television guide asking about Orbach's departure from L&O (he/she must live in a cave to have just read that news). The answer given was basically what we've already heard: Orbach is taking his "alter ego onto Dick Wolf's latest 'Law & Order' series, 'Law & Order: Trial by Jury". The bit about his replacement, however, was a partially new to me. "Dennis Farina will be coming aboard the original series, playing Det. Joe Fontana, a good cop who has a bit of mystery about him - and usually more than a little money."

I've never heard of that being done before. Thats some props to the shows. Also I'm glad to hear that Dennis is fitting in with the rest of the cast.

Here's an article about tomorrow night's premiere and its expected battle with CSI: NY, the upcoming season on L&O (including talk about the cast changes), a little about Trial By Jury, and a hint about a 5th series: Crime Time

Interesting article, dukesmom. Wow, a fifth L&O, that's thinking ahead.
