First Up In Our Watching Party:

Catch & Release
After the sudden death of her fiancé, Gray Wheeler finds comfort in the company of his friends: lighthearted and comic Sam, hyper-responsible Dennis, and, oddly enough, his old childhood buddy Fritz, an irresponsible playboy whom she'd previously pegged as one of the least reliable people in the world. As secrets about her supposedly perfect fiancé emerge, Gray comes to see new sides of the man she thought she knew, and at the same time, finds herself drawn to the last man she ever expected to fall for...

Catch & Release is the first movie that we'll be watching during this wonderful little watching party. Please PM me with a vote for your top three choices in the selections below on what you want to watch next by May 3rd:

Dude Where's My Car?
Time of Your Life (Season 1: Episodes One & Two)
Pearl Harbor
Catch Me If You Can
Alias (Season 1: Episodes One & Two)
Daredevil
13 Going On 30
Elektra
The Kingdom
Juno
Cyrano de Bergerac

Thanks,
Mandy

I will try to watch it today or tomorrow...I own it so shouldn't be too hard for me haha. Just want to pay attention, I love her movies...she's really good at picking out roles. I own practically all her movies except catch me if you can...for some reason I didn't like that movie.

Thoughts:

“How could you leave me alone with your pervy uncle you know I can’t handle it” - no idea why I love that line so much but I think it's Jen's delivery.

That whole sex scene in the bathroom is hilarious, that girl he was sleeping with was such an idiot and I love the face that Gray makes silently begging them to hurry up.

I flove Kevin Smith, his timing is impeccable. I always love when he directs things but he’s a really gifted actor too. I forgot the guy, Sam Jaeger was in this…I really liked him on Eli Stone.

“Oh that’s it dude I’m so getting married…this chick made out like it was her bar mitzvah…”
“Put it back dude,”
“Why she’s got like six of them…”
“That’s right she’s got like six of them…thank you”
“Why ya’ gotta be like that I’m just trying to feather our nest”
“You’re just trying to feather your stomach,”
“You know what, that was hateful you’re such a blatant sizist sometimes…”

Jen playing drunk and singing “Mama, Don’t Let Your Babies Grown Up To Be Cowboys” is precious.

How much did I hate the fiancés mother when she asked for the engagement ring? So much. I hate when people do stuff like that. I have an aunt who had a similar thing happen to her when her boyfriend died and it’s so galling. Horrible woman. And then she goes onto blame Gray because “no satisfied man screws a cocktail waitress,” Er, no…you suck. Even in the end when she “redeemed” herself I still didn’t like her.

I love the dinner scene because I think Maureen is a moron and I love how everyone is kinda eyeing the little boys food and how Gray just randomly starts saying things that Grady never knew about her like the library book and fist thing. “I made it with a girl once! Ah!” -

“They say you’re not supposed to eat after seven o’clock but what am I trying to win, a beauty contest?” – Kevin Smith rules.

I think one of the things that makes me not love the movie (I only like it) is that I never really truly got Fritz and Gray as a couple. Separately I like them and I love Timothy Olypahant from a lot of things and of course I love Jen but I don’t see why she’d choose him and so soon after Grady’s passing. A sexual relationship I get if only because people are hurting and they reach out but that they end up together at the end doesn’t really feel right to me especially given Grady had not been gone that long – kinda cheapens the premise for me a little even if Grady was a jerk who didn’t share a lot of himself with her. I don’t know…I think it’s because it’s the unwritten rule that other friends significant others are off limits, even when broken up.

Considering all the awful things Id heard about the movie, it was really much much better than Id expected so though the DVD I had had extremely crap quality and was missing the umm ending

I completely agree about the finace's mother, oh sooo so insensitive, 'but you didnt spend the rest of your life with him' that was just amongst the worst things anyone could say, and then she blames Jen for something her son did?

I kinda liked the couple, Timothy Olypahant was kinda awesome, I couldnt believe he was in Hitman he looked so different, anyways, I expected her to be with Dennis from the beginning but I was kinda pleased with these two, more like opposites attracting though I would have preferred it if it didnt happen so fast and was given time to mature.

One thing that really bugged me though was the fact that she found the phone when he'd been dead for like a week so how on earth is the phone still charged after a week? my cellphone normally goes about 3-4 days and thats if I dont use it much whereas that phone had recieved about 10 missed calls

Yeah, that mother was a primo bitch. I didn't love Gray's response to the whole "but you didn't spend the rest of your life with him" the whole "no, but he spent the rest of his life with me," - way to think on your toes.

I always felt a little bad for Matt, because his love of Gray was never reciprocated, not that they would have made a good couple but unrequited love really bites the big one.

You know, I was thinking the same thing about the cell phone. Depending on how much talking I do on it I have to charge my phone at least every two days. And come to think of it with 10 missed calls don't you think someone else would have heard the phone ring at some point in time?

Is anyone else going to watch Catch & Release or should we move on?

Okay sweetie, do you want us to start? Could you watch both C&R and Elektra, the next pick as well?
