The Great Jennifer Garner Watching Party #1: Alias, Season 1 - Until 11/7 Watching S1, Episode 3 & 4

We've been talking about all of us rewatching the series together on and off for awhile now and our plans have finally come to fruition! lol. Instead of talking about each episode in it's own thread, I thought we'd find it easier to blend the conversations in one thread. We tend to flow from one topic to the next already.

So the plan is to watch the whole series in order, taking it an episode a week. Wednesday night because it seems a good time and it will give people some time to catch up with the rest of us if they fall behind.

First Up:

Truth Be Told, 1x01
Sydney Bristow is a college student who leads a double life: she works for SD-6 which supposes to be a branch of the CIA. Recently fiancéed, she tells her boyfriend the truth. The next day, he is murdered. And Sydney's father tells the truth: he is a double agent for the real CIA, as SD-6 is a renegade agency who alledgedly killed Sydney's fiancé. Sydney must take a decision upon which revenge and justice will haunt her upon the rest of her life...

Thanks for the thread Mandy

Should we put the episode of the week in the thread title?

Sure thing, Sheida. I'll add it in now.

Same here. It'll be great to get back into the show again though. Sadly, today was occupied by the Swimming. It's probably the only sport that I spot everything for!

Sorry for the double post guys but I wont be able to post later so I just thought Id put my thoughts about the episode here:

Starting with the Alias Dance which is pretty much what I do everytime I hear the theme song, which is just awesome

The proposal was very sweet, I would have died of embrassment if Id been Sydney though, too much attention.

Ugh, I dont like Francie, I liked her the first time I watched the show but now that I know what shes gonna turn into (or whose gonna turn into her) Im kinda not a fan anymore, she's eveeeeel

Jack Is awesome, I mean seriously the whole phone call with Danny was just awesome, Im surprised Danny didnt have a heart attack or something

Another person who is totally awesome (though not as awesome as Jack) is Marshall, I had missed the way he talks, he's the ultimate geek.

Didnt like Will in this episode either, cause he was bit too obvious when he heard about Danny and Sydney and I dont know kinda seems weird to me that she didnt pick up on it

My mum gasped out loud when Dixon pretended to pass out, she was like 'did they poison him?' Guess she'll just have to get used to this kind of thing in the show, they pretend to do a lot of things!

Dannys funeral is just so sad, I love Jack sitting in his car far away, stupid Danny she went to all the trouble to actually go somewhere very loud so that you couldnt be bugged and you phone her and leave a message I always felt that was stupid of him, kinda dumb for a doctor isnt he? Oh but I loved that she said 'thank you' when she re-recorded the answering machines tape, that was something I hadnt noticed last time.

Another thing thats great about this episode is the music, I love all the songs that are used and they fit perfectly.

It seems a bit odd that Sydney could do all those stuff and get that thing back without any gadgets and any partners when she had to have the help of Dixon and Marshall for just taking a picture Also seems odd that SD-6 wouldnt get suspicious of this sudden change of heart.

And now we have, last but not least, Agent Vaughn and his instinct.

Anyways, loved this episode, it was a great way to start an amazing series and it introduces most of the main characters and we see how great the actors are, and how 3 dimentional the characters are.

Wow, great analysis Sheida. I'm going to watch it tomorrow morning. I can't wait to get back here and post my thoughts and compare notes. It's been such a long time since I've seen the first ep.

Great title.

I'm going to watch the first ep and maybe a few more eps this weekend. I could post my thoughts now, but I will wait until I have a chance to see the show again. Usually my feelings don't change with a show that I love, but it's been awhile. It would be interesting to see if I still feel the same way about some things.

I'm going to try to make it in at least once a week.

Potty, what about the fashion?

This is going to be fun.

Hope you guys get to watch the first episode soon It really is great watching Sydney after all these years.

Im away so I wont be able to watch the second episode for about 10 days, until we go back home

Dr.Love - The fashion? well, I liked the stuff Sydney wears when she's undercover, and I like how different her clothes are and how much they change during one episode, the normal everyday stuff she wears is also kinda nice, though I suppose its not exactly fashionable now cause its been many years. her everyday clothes are very simple arent they?
