| Alias Discussion thread #1 I'm aware we do have a Sydney Bristow thread, but I thought we needed little place that we could discuss our thoughts on the eps in general and see what everyone thought. So please, any likes, dislikes with the current episodes, or even the previous seasons, by all means post away! I admit, I am a couple of episodes behind in my watching this season, I'm hoping to catch up over the weekend, as long as all goes well. But when I think about this season, one thing that stands out to me is the return of those 'outside' friendships with Sydney. Mind you, they are all with people in the agency, but you see a bit of her at home with her sister, or hanging with Weiss and so on. It's a bit of a breath of fresh air for me, as since the first season, we haven't really seen much of it too much. I watched an episode from s1 this week, and Francie and Will were there and it made me realise how much I missed them. I guess this season has a bit more of a season 1 feel to it, a bit like they were back in SD6 and I guess that was the aim of this season too. Which I'm glad about, because I got a bit frustrated with last season. Anyone else have any thoughts about this season? Fire away! | |||

| Heh, I used to post really really REALLY long episode posts, but fortunately (for both me and everyone else) I've managed to keep the latest two episode-comments a little shorter. But sure, we can have an episode thread here. I'll just copy what I write at my own thread, heh. I don't have time to get into a long talk about this season's Alias right now, but I'll just say that I agree that the whole outside world part is very refreshing, indeed. In fact, I like how this season is lighter in general. It's even lighter in a literal sense, with the very white APO offices, heh. I also miss Francie and Will. So much. I have since we lost them. | Hee, sounds good to me! I used to discuss Alias to death, but these days, I don't do it, and I miss it. So I thought, we need a thread here, then I will! ![]() Those offices are really white, huh?! Vast difference to the old SD6 ones that were pretty dark and gloomy. But yes, this season definitely has a more lighter feel to it. It's nice.I really miss them too, and I wish they'd bring Will back again. He's so awesome. And I wish there was a way Francie was still alive too. The REAL Francie that is. But then again, you never know in Alias land, she just might be. ![]() And I do remember JJ saying that he wanted to go back to the roots of the show at the end of last season. And I'm so glad he did. That missing two years thing drove me crazy. And then there was Lauren. But I won't talk about her, I'll be here all night. ![]() | |||

| Hee, yeah, let's not bring Lauren into this. People might get agressive then. Oh Will, how I miss him. Coop, with his gorgeous, gorgeous blue eyes. Sighs. Heh, who knows with Francie. Although, that bullet we saw in her head? I wanna see them get around that one. __________________ | |||

| Yeah, let's leave her dead, where she should be! Oh, those eyes, they are to die for! And his hair. I love that scruffy hair! If they ever did try and get around the bullet in the head, I want to see! They come up with some pretty interesting things on that show, sometimes it takes me a while to wrap my head around it, especially season one and Rambaldi, I got so confused. But kudos to the people who wrote all that, they're so creative! | |||

| Creative or stoned, heh. Some of the stuff is so out there, I have to wonder what on earth they've been smoking to think about it. And often I don't even bother trying to understand what they're talking about and just let them entertain me. Sometimes that's for the best. But even in all the crazy stuff, the people are real. And the relationships are real. And that's what I love the most about the show. __________________ | |||

| Haha, stoned! Yes! You know, you may be right there. The whole two years thing, I definitely thought they were on drugs. I probably should take that approach too. I spent a lot of the first season trying to piece it all together, probably not the best idea. And yeah, they are real..they've found a pretty good balance with that show, with the out there stuff and the realism of it all as well. Like you said, some of the stuff is pretty out there, but with the characters, the relationships, it feels like it could really happen, you know? | |||

But yeah, they feel real and I can get emotionally attached to them. Of course, I also like that they're real in the sense that they're physically real people. Not with supernatural powers and stuff like that.__________________ | |||

| looking at my post, I don't think it made very much sense! But yes, let's hope some of that stuff doesn't happen. People catching fire? Eep! But yeah, I do like that aspect too, they're just normal people like us, doing some ass kicking! | |||

| Entertainment Weekly article on "Alias" Four reasons why ''Alias'' is back in business -- Why the ratings for Jennifer Garner's show are up again by Jennifer Armstrong & Whitney Pastorek SELL MATE Alias' Garner Alias' ratings are up, but die-hard fans of the ABC spy series (airing Wednesdays at 9 p.m.) have been griping about its identity crisis. Until now. Just when it seemed to turn into a procedural drag, Aliasmasterminds have pulled a fast one over the last few weeks, with plot moves that'll satisfy neophytes and devotees alike. Vaughn goes rogue The droopy-dog agent (Michael Vartan) finally got some edge with his off-the-grid mission. Extra points for the revelation in the April 13 episode that his turn to the dark side was for naught: His dad isn'tsecretly alive. (Let's save the dead-character-revival allotment for Lena Olin as Sydney's duplicitous mom.) Jack goes mutant Spy Daddy Jack (Victor Garber) needed to soften up, and saving daughter Syd (Jennifer Garner) by exposing himself to nuclear radiation — thus acquiring a genetic mutation — did the trick. Marshall gets some action Going to Cuba to dig up a buried-alive Syd, Marshall (Kevin Weisman) gave the show two gifts: more humor and a return to hiding the day job from a loved one, in this case his wife. Which got us thinking. . .Syd needs a friend on the outside again. Our suggestion: a rotating cast of Craigslist roommates. A second Sloane appears! How great is Joel Grey as an impostor version of Ron Rifkin's reformed bad guy, Arvin Sloane? The same beady eyes. The same hollow cheeks. The same nihilism. Turns out he's the one screwing with everyone's lives, to which we say, ''Screw on, sir!'' It was the biggest Oh. My. God. of the season. So far. (Posted:04/25/05) | |||
