Smallville came on the air in 2001 and it was still the WB then. The CW didn't start until 2006.

It was still on the CW for years. Down to about 2010 or 2011.

Well, that's true, sum1, but the same can be said for a lot of WB shows that were still on the air when it became the CW. The point is that Smallville was originally a creation of the WB and got grandfathered into the CW when WB and UPN merged, like all other WB shows.

I think Smallville got worse from what I've heard. People didn't like the direction the show went after that, but I don't know if it had anything to do with the network switch.

Smallville got worse by its end, but it was never a work of genius.

No, it was mostly a whimsical experiment in prequel storytelling, similar to Gotham.

Very different from Gotham.

True, Gotham was far more noir influenced, but it still had some whimsy.

Thanks for agreeing with me, LightYears and Petra. Ugh, I remember when it switched to being CW. I was like, why was it even necessary to merge the WB with UPN? Just let UPN die and keep the WB.
Oh yeah it was with UPN to .. wow i remember that

Ugh, I hated UPN. You don't create a network around a Star Trek spinoff. They should've just stuck with The WB and not even done the CW.

The irony is that Paramount now has their own network, Paramount Network(formerly Spike TV), which plays mostly reruns of Mom and Two and a Half Men, as well as a lot of movies, mostly the Indiana Jones and John Wick films.

Two and Half Men has that Sheen guy. I guess he's the half a man.

Not really, sum1. The half is Jon Cryer's character's son. But I think you're right about Sheen.
