Talk to me in farenheit. Celsius is mad.

I think Fahrenheit is mad. Cause it makes more sense to compare things relative to water freezing temperatures.

Celsuis is mad because the numbers are too small. There isn't enough room to get in small variations in temperature. Like the metric system in general it doesn't relate to human reality very well.

and feet do? It's not like everyone has the same footsize. I think it's bonkers. A meter is a meter in every possible interpretation.

It's not what it's based on that matters. It's how relatable the size of the measurements are for human-size and human-related matters. For talking about human height, for example, metres are too big and centimetres are too small. Feet and inches are much more relatable.

Wow, sum1! A European critical of the metric system and defending the use of the English system? I may faint.

sum1 does have a point regarding how the metric system fails to relate to human everyday life. Who uses centimeters to gauge their own height? He's right, they are too small, and meters are far too long. They're slightly longer than yards. And no one uses decimeters or decameters at all, so what good are they? And I see far more people using Fahrenheit for things like cooking than Celsius.

Oh, and I'm doing dishes and laundry, just in case you want to know where I am if I'm not here on FF. And I have to get dinner.

Okay, I'm gonna bump this thread up because no one apparently had anything off-topic to discuss this week.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVERYONE!!!

Watch out for criminals attacking people, homes, etc.

It's not that bad, sum1. We usually just have to avoid the mask-wearing, knife-wielding psychopaths.

I like your Wonder Woman avatar.

Thanks.

It's not that bad where? I can think of some places in my city where it's quite dangerous to be out on a Halloween night.

People should keep their pets indoors. There's a lot of brutality and cruelty towards pets on Halloween

Really? I rarely hear about that stuff happening in Philadelphia on Halloween, although I do agree that pets should be kept safe indoors no matter the holiday.

Pets do fine most times, just not on Halloween. On Halloween they're in danger. I remember when I was a teenager in school some of my classmates would gloat over the idea of stuffing firecrackers up cats' arses on Halloween.

OMG, really? I knew that you guys invented Halloween, but that's just way out of line. There's a difference between fun and sadism. I can't tolerate people who abuse animals, especially pets.

I'll be back later. I have to go get my dinner. Mom's been watching my sister's house for her while she's been away all week.

OK, enjoy your dinner.

I love cats and I hate people who hurt them. Halloween is a bad night for cats, so it's a night I don't like. I used to be terrified for my cat all night. Had to make sure he didn't sneak out at some point.
