Okay. Well, we do get tornadoes and hurricanes.

Add yet another scandal for NY Governor Andrew Cuomo. Early in the coronavirus pandemic when access to testing was vital but limited, members of Cuomo's inner circle and family were given preferential treatment and access to Covid testing, including his brother, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo.

Okay.

Well, the hypocrisy of CNN's Chris Cuomo, for one thing.

So the Cuomo's are arseholes. Not terribly surprising. Can we move on?

How about the fact that Georgia made it illegal to give water to people lining up to vote? Next year, Georgia's governor is up for reelection. Let's hope they vote out the racist. Georgia must be run by people with hoods in their closets.

Oh yeah, and a black female member of Georgia's senate was handcuffed for knocking on the governor's door.

Yes, I heard about all of that. The Biden said that the DOJ is "looking into it," whatever that means. We'll find out if they're going to challenge it. The part about the water makes no sense.

It's all aimed at stopping black people from voting.

Oh, and the Derek Chauvin trial began today. Prosecution and defense gave their opening statements. Ugh, I have a very bad feeling about this, that no matter what things are gonna get ugly. Like if they only get him for manslaughter but not the murder charges, or they get him for 3rd degree but not 2nd degree.

Day Two of the Derek Chauvin trial ended with testimony from eyewitnesses on the street, including a ten year old girl.

I hope they get him for at least manslaughter and Murder 3.

I don't think he's getting away without at least one conviction, but I'm pretty sure he'll get at least one murder charge. The rules for Murder 2 and Murder 3 are a bit confusing.

Quote:
Minnesota law originally defined third-degree murder solely as depraved-heart murder ("without intent to effect the death of any person, caus[ing] the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life"). In 1987, an additional drug-related provision ("without intent to cause death, proximately causing the death of a human being by, directly or indirectly, unlawfully selling, giving away, bartering, delivering, exchanging, distributing, or administering a controlled substance classified in Schedule I or II") was added to the definition of third-degree murder.

Second degree murder is any intentional murder with malice aforethought, but is not premeditated or planned in advance.

Involuntary manslaughter is a killing that stems from a lack of intention to cause death but involving an intentional or negligent act leading to death.

I'm worried that Americans have too favourable a view of police, leading to the jury acquitting him. A lot more people in America feel it wasn't murder than did last year.

And when will American police learn that they have to have restraint techniques that take into consideration that the person restrained might have drugs in their system, or heart trouble or asthma? Whatever other problems George Floyd might have had, he wouldn't have died if that arsehole hadn't knelt on his neck for 9 minutes, 29 seconds.

The Onion's parody is that Chauvin's defense team is praising Chauvin's restraint in not killing the bystanders. That's about the level their arguments are at.

After the testimony of Chauvin's immediate supervisor, and the testimony of a Minneapolis Police veteran, Richard Zimmerman, who pretty much destroyed the defense's case, I'm pretty certain the guy is going down.
