I expect better from the comics, though.

The world sucks, Rita.

Man, we Gen Xers were really stupid with our early 90s Grunge angst. We really didn't know how good we had it back then. Kurt Cobain was an idiot.

Well, I've had time to reflect. I always felt that our Gen X angst in the early 1990s was overrated and that we were full of ourselves. All that "I hate myself and wanna die" crap got old real fast, right around the time that Kurt Cobain took a huge shot of heroin, put the barrel of a rifle in his mouth, and blew his brains out. I think we all got over ourselves after that. I also never liked how quickly everyone was to toss the 80s aside in the early 1990s, and look how nostalgic everyone is now for the 1980s? The fact is that the 1990s were still better than the crap we've had to deal with since 2001, and the 1980s were even better than that.

It's sad that we overlooked how good we had it back in the 80s and 90s, Rita. It's sad we made an icon of Cobain after his death when he should be seen as a cautionary tale for Generation X presumptuousness. He was a heroin addict who came from a broken home and suffered a stomach ailment that caused him great pain that he never got treated. He had everything to live for at the height of his fame and he threw his life away.

I never cared for Cobain but I totally understand about chronic pain and how he got to where he got to.

Yep, and he should've gotten it checked out and treated when he was a successful rock star. He could certainly afford it by then. Instead he numbed the pain with heroin, which was stupid. His wife obviously wasn't much help in that area either. It could've been Crohn's or gastritis.

It is. I never understood that guy. I got his Gen X angst because I went through it myself, but the rest... no.
