Well, it was the fantasy aspect of it, sum1. He wasn't anywhere remotely close to what an actual spy was, he was a romanticized version of a spy, and very much a product of the time. True, he doesn't age well, but there will always be a fascination with the spy genre, hence the Jason Bourne movies. I do wish Matt Damon would stop making them though, because I've grown tired of his shtick.

Jason Bourne sucks and I don't have much patience for Matt Damon. Same for James Bond.

Can I just say how much I hate the new Star Wars? The new trilogy is all about predictably killing off the original trio of characters. Other than that it's safe, plastic and tame. Complete with annoying ships, cutesey creatures that wouldnt have been out of place in the Pequels, that awful cutesified droid BB8, plotlines that amount to nothing, disrespect for the earlier Star Wars and the older fans and a tame, inappropriately posh, artificial main character in Rey. The director of the new film, Rian Johnson, has gotten a lot of praise, but I hate his films. I hated Looper and I couldn't get through The Brothers Bloom. I'll make sure not to see any new films by him after The Last Jedi. He's apparently being given his own trilogy of Star Wars films to make. I won't be seeing that. In fact I won't be seeing any new Star Wars films after Episode 9 and I may not be seeing Episode 9 either. I've had it up to here with Disney's Star Wars. They've cynically exploited the franchise and turned it into plastic garbage. Their Star Wars actually bothers me more than Lucas's Prequels. I dread to think what Disney's going to do to the X-Men.

TLJ? Not yet. But I've seen the trailers, read the detailed synopsis, read tons of discussion about it. I know what it's made of. I'll see it when it coms out on dvd. If it weren't Carrie Fisher's last I probably wouldn't see it either.

I think they've stayed true to Leia, and if she had the spark missing, it wouldn't be surprising under the circumstances

I haven't seen The Last Jedi yet either, but it's supposedly getting rave reviews and it's currently at 92% on Rottentomatoes. Yes, I know you don't trust them, sum1. But I'll reserve judgement until I see it. And I don't think Disney's gonna ruin X-Men because I believe that Marvel Studios will function in their own capacity as a sub-division of Disney, similar to how 20th Century Fox will operate. No one in Hollywood is gonna want to work with either Marvel or Fox if they're only gonna be allowed to make cartoons.

The critics liked The Last Jedi, but the fans didn't. It's getting approval ratings like 56% and 49% from the general public.

Yeah, but that's just making excuses for what they did wrong with her. Leia hasn't been herself this trilogy. Han lost his edge and became a funny old geezer and Luke became a grmupy old vagrant.
